Electrical Plate
FITTING:
1.
From inside the boot lift and remove the luggage compartment floor and take out all equipment.

Remove rear most plastic trim by boot latch.
3.
Open upholstered hatches on both left and right side of the luggage compartment thus exposing rear light
electrical plugs. Unscrew 3 nuts from light fixings, disconnect the electrical plug and detach each rear light.

Remove the bumper retaining nuts located through square holes at the rear of the luggage compartment.
Release the bumper at the left and right wheel housing via 3 plastic fixings, then from behind the mud guard 1
screw and 2 plastic fixings.

Remove bumper fixing screws and plastic fixings from below, remove also possible under tray and unclip the
electrical connections inside bumper. Unclip and detach bumper from vehicle carefully starting from side tips.
Detach rearmost exhaust hanger from side rail and if an 'AdBlue' tank is installed, loosen or completely remove it

thus allowing access to the chassis rails.
7.
Remove the crash beam from the rear panel via nuts behind the rear panel, note inner nuts are located on boot
side. Retain crash beam so as it can be re-fitted if towbar is removed. When beam is removed the covered
openings into chassis rails will be exposed.
Cut a hole in the covering material and insert side arms 'B' and 'C' with their cage nuts installed (see cage nut

instructions), loosely fix with fixing set 'F', then fix to the rear panel with fixing set 'E'.
Loosely install the main cross bar 'A' to the side arms with fixing set 'D'.

10. Align all parts and tighten to the recommended torque settings. For detachable neck options the neck housing
with electrical plate may be installed at this point.
11. Seal the seams between the chassis and side arms with body sealant.
12. Make a bumper cut on the underside of the bumper to allow the neck to protrude. See diagrams B1 (standard
bumper) and B2 (AMG bumper), Sizes are approximate.
13. Reinstall all components in reverse order, excluding the crash beam.
14. Finally install the neck between the centre profiles and attach the chosen electrical plate.
Note: This towbar must be used with either a Witter Towball (part number Z1X) or Class A50-1 or A50-X towball
dimensionally conforming to A50-1 with a 'D' and 'S' value greater than or equal to that of the towbar.
Please refer to the vehicle specification for the trailer weight and nose limits, which must be observed.
Recommended torque settings: Grade 8.8 bolts: M8 - 24Nm, M10 - 52 Nm, M12 - 80 Nm, M14 - 130 Nm, M16 - 200
Nm Grade 10.9: M12 – 120Nm, M10 – 70Nm M8- 35Nm
