Note: This towbar must be used with either a Witter Towball (part number Z11) or Class A50-1 or A50-X towball, which
dimensionally conforms to A50-1 with a 'D' and 'S' value greater than or equal to that of the towbar.
FITTING
1.
Lift boot bottom plate up and Remove luggage tie brackets right and left.
2.
Remove plastic plate at the rear edge of boot.
3.
Remove left and right side upholstery from the rear section (remove bag hooks, if installed.) Remove rear lights right and left
(3 nuts and electrical socket on boot side).
4.
Remove 4 bumper retaining nuts (Estate: only 2 nuts) at rear panel from luggage compartment through the openings.
5.
Remove the bumper at left and right wheel housing (3+2 plastic rivets and 1 screw). Release the bumper and plastic casing,
if installed, under vehicle.
6.
Release wiring connectors leading to rear bumper. Pull bumper sides off their clamps and prise bumper from the vehicle.
7.
Remove left hand side exhaust bracket.
8.
If an AdBlue tank is installed, release its bracket from the crash beam, retaining M8 bolts for refitting. Remove crash beam
from the rear panel and hand back to the customer.
9.
Pre-assemble the square nut and retainer from fixings E to Sidearms B & C using the separate fitting instruction. Cut holes in
the left and right chassis seals to enable Sidearms B & C to be inserted. Loosely attach Sidearms B & C from boot side using
the remaining fixings E.
10.
Using fixings F loosely attach Sidearms B & C to the rear panel as shown. Re-fit the AdBlue tank to Sidearm C using M8
bolts previously removed and the M8 Washers and Nyloc nuts from G.
11.
Fit Main crossbar A to Sidearms B & C using fixings D.
12.
Align all parts and tighten all nuts and bolts to the correct torque.
13.
Seal the seams between the chassis and Sidearms B & C watertight with e.g. body sealant.
14.
Fit neck option and electrical plate ZE to main crossbar A and tighten all fixings to the correct torque.
15.
Saloon only: Remove plastic plate inside rear bumper: Drill out the two aluminium rivets with ca. 3mm drill bit and remove the
plate from the bumper (plate is not re-mounted to vehicle).
16.
Refit bumper back to vehicle, reconnect wiring to bumper.
17.
Saloon only: Make a notch to bumper for retractable electrical plate (see sketch).
18.
Refit other removed parts to vehicle.
Recommended torque settings: Grade 8.8 bolts: M8 - 24Nm, M10 - 52Nm, M12 - 80Nm, M14 - 130Nm,
M16 - 200Nm; Grade 10.9 bolts: M12 – 120Nm, M10 – 70Nm M8- 35Nm
