1.
Remove and trim underbody panels – Using a screwdriver, remove plastic expanding fasteners from the bottom of the panels, using a 10mm socket remove the nuts on the forward
edge of the panels, while turning and pulling downward remove the remaining plastic fasteners from the panels. Trim the underbody panels, See Figure 3 for example.
2.
Enlarge access hole – Remove the plugs / stickers that are covering the attachment holes and the access hole from each framerail. Using a die grinder remove enough material from
the edge of the access hole to allow the carriage bolt to fit through. Adding spray paint to the enlarged area to protect against corrosion.
3.
Fishwire fasteners – Use the provided fishwire to install the spacer and carriage bolt into the frame, start by inserting the coiled end through the attachment hole (furthest from the
access hole first) then out through the access hole, attach the spacer and carriage bolt to the fishwire, then pull the bolt up to the attachment hole. Leave the fishwire attached. See
figure 2 for example. Repeat for other side.
4.
Install hitch – Raise the hitch into position, feed ends of pullwires through holes in hitch and pull the 7/16" fasteners through the attachment holes in the hitch, remove pullwire,
apply blue thread locker, and loosely install conical washers and supplied 7/16" hex nuts, both sides.
5.
Torque fasteners - Tighten all 7/16" fasteners with torque wrench to 50Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
6.
Re-install trimmed underbody panels - Reverse the process used in step 1 to re-install the trimmed underbody panels.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which
has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety
specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
