Pond Clear 2.500
Biological filter with integrated UV-C apparatus, suitable for use in ponds of up to 2500 litres
The filter mass in this filter is constructed of 2 layers: a filter mat and bio-blocks. The water enters the filter at the top, through a universal hose connection. From there
onwards, it flows along the 5 watt UV-C apparatus that ensures the removal of algae growth and the destruction of bacteria. The water then reaches the filter mat. This mat
filters out coarse dirt. Following that, the water drops down to the bio-blocks. These are constructed in such a way that an optimal bio-culture develops in the filter within a
few weeks. The water leaves the filter through the outlet, which is fitted with an overflow safeguard.
Maintenance
:
Always disconnect from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance/repair!
- If your pond is heavily polluted, the filter mat should initially be cleaned every day. Depending on the grade of pollution, it should subsequently be flushed at least
once a month with tap water. The bio blocks should be cleaned twice a year in a bucket filled with pond water (Do not use tap water for this purpose!).
- The UV-C device should be cleaned twice a year. If the growth of algae increases, the quartz glass tube in which the PL lamp is fitted, should be cleaned. The tube is
easily removed by using a coin. Any lime deposits can be removed with an agent suitable for this purpose. Avoid scratching the tube. The PL lamp should be
replaced after 8,000 burning hours (= ± 1 year). Never touch the lamp with your bare hands.
* When maintaining the UV-C apparatus, always loosen the screw on the lid first, to avoid the cable sustaining damage from turning (see fig. B).
Installation:
1. Choose the most suitable place. The filter should be installed close to the pond and it should be easily accessible for maintenance. The filter inlet should be higher
than the water level in the pond, so that the filter cannot overflow.
2. Open the filter and unscrew the cover of the UV-C device.
3. Put the lamp in the lamp holder and refit the cover to the UV-C device, tightening it by hand. Make sure that the sealing rings are correctly positioned (see fig. A)
and that the cover is not screwed onto the UV-C device in an oblique position.
4. Connect the pond pump to the filter inlet, using a pond hose and hose clamps. If the hose diameter is more than 15mm, the hose coupling should first be sawn off
to the right size. In that case, unscrew the hose socket from the filter before starting the sawing (see fig. C). This is to avoid damaging the filter.
5. Close the filter and then fit a hose to the filter outlet. Make sure the water is led to a lower place so that the water level in the filter cannot rise to an undesirable
level. The hose returning the water to the pond should not be longer than 1 metre and no part of it should be higher than the inlet level. Never reduce the
diameter of the outlet.
6. Operate the pump and the Pond Clear and check the system for leakage. Check the operation of the UV-C lamp via the transparent hose couplings.
Safety:
-
The UV-C device produces harmful radiation. Direct contact may be dangerous for eyes and skin. For this reason, the operation of the UV lamp must only be
checked via the transparent hose coupling.
-
To avoid overheating, switch off the lamp when no water is flowing past it.
-
In the winter season, when the system is not used, the Pond Clear unit should be removed to avoid the risk of freezing.
-
When connecting the plug of the unit, make sure the lead end is pointing downward and fit it in a socket with cover. Never put it on wet grass or on a wet surface
(see fig. D).
-
For a permanent connection to the electricity grid, compliance with the instructions of your Electricity Company is required. If you are in doubt about the
connection, consult an authorised electrical company or your Electricity Company. Always use an earth leakage circuit breaker.
-
The cable of the Pond Clear unit must not be replaced. If the cable is damaged, the entire electrical part should be scrapped and replaced.
-
When water treatment agents or medication is used, the Pond Clear should be switched off.
Guarantee conditions:
This product carries a 24 month warranty as from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing faults. The lamp and the quartz glass are not covered by the
warranty. Warranty claims will only be considered if the product is returned carriage paid and accompanied by a receipt proving the purchase. Warranty claims
resulting from installation or operation errors will not be honoured. Defects as a result of poor maintenance do not come under the warranty either. Warranty repairs
must only be carried out by the supplier. The supplier cannot be held liable for any consequential damage caused by failure, poor maintenance or misuse of the Pond
Clear.
Technical data:
Maximum rates of flow: 1500 L/h
UV-C:
1,1 W
When selecting the pump, bear in mind that the pump's output decreases as the water has to be raised to a higher level. So when choosing a pump, always take
account of the difference in height between the water level of the pond and the place of the filter. If in doubt, consult your pond specialist.
Tip :
A 2-way tap can be used for pond pumps with a larger capacity (see fig. E).
