FINDING AN OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT
1.
Open the vehicle's fuse box. Consult the legend on the fuse
box lid or in the owner's manual to identify each circuit's fuse.
2.
Remove the suspected fuse and inspect it first to ensure it is
not blown.
3.
Follow the transmitter set up instructions and insert the
fuse adapter blades (B) in the fuse socket or connect the
alligator clips (A) to the battery and the wire that will be
tested.
4.
Remove additional loads on a circuit as it will diffuse the
signal throughout all the additional wiring. This will make it
more difficult to isolate the faulty wire.
5.
Set up the receiver and set the sensitivity to low.
6.
Place the probe on the wire. One of several responses
will occur:
6.1 The green LED will start flashing and the buzzer will
sound when the receiver senses the transmitter's signal.
6.2 The green LED will not flash if unable to detect the
signal. This can be due to an open circuit or checking
the wrong wire.
