The transmitter sends and receives a signal along a circuit that is closed. A loss of signal indicates an open circuit. A red LED indicates a short.

- Page 8 8595258 AUTO CIRCUIT TRACER DETECTOR V1.1 Fig. 5 FINDING AN OPEN OR SHORT CIRCUIT Open the vehicle’s fuse box. Consult the legend on the fuse box lid or in the owner’s manual to identify each circuit’s fuse. Remove the suspected fuse and inspect it first to ensure it is not blown.
