CHANGING THE BLADE DRIVE ASSEMBLY
If your trimmer blades no longer cut properly (be sure to try more than one blade,
since the blade currently being used may be dull), it could be that your blade drive
assembly needs replacement.
TO CHANGE THE BLADE DRIVE ASSEMBLY:
1. Turn the trimmer off.
2. Remove the blade set. Hold the trimmer so that the blade teeth are pointing up.
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the blade attachment screw (Figure P).
Press forward on blade (Figures Q & R).
3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws that hold the mounting
bracket/spring to the lower blade (Figure P).
4. Remove yoke from upper blade and replace with new yoke by pressing it firmly
into the slot of the upper blade (Figure T).
5. Using the two Phillips screws, reattach the new mounting bracket/spring to the
lower blade. Before assembly, confirm the springs are located in the guide slots on
the yoke (Figure U).
6. To replace the blade, line up the bottom hook of blade with the slot on the trimmer
and snap into place (Figure S). Replace the blade attachment screw and gently
hand tighten.
7. There is no need to adjust blade tension before use, as tension has been preset at
the factory.
USE GUIDELINES FOR LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES
1. The lithium-ion battery included with your trimmer does not develop a "memory
effect" like a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), or nickel cadmium (NiCd) battery. You
can return the trimmer to the charger at any time for a full charge, or even use the
battery before a charge cycle is complete. Like most rechargeable batteries,
lithium-ion batteries perform best when used frequently.
2. For maximum battery life, store the trimmer in a partially discharged condition if
the unit will not be used for several months. To discharge the battery, run the
trimmer under normal conditions. Battery should be recharged again before re-use.
3. Avoid locating the trimmer near heat vents, radiators, or in direct sunlight.
Optimum charging will result where the temperature is stable. Sudden increases
in temperature can result in the battery receiving less than a full charge.
4. Many factors influence lithium-ion battery life. A battery that has received heavy
use or is more than a year old may not give the same run-time performance as a
new battery pack.
5. New lithium-ion batteries, unused for a period of time, may not accept a full charge.
This is normal and does not indicate a problem with the battery or charger. The
battery will accept a full charge after several cycles of trimmer use and recharging.
6. Disconnect the charger or the trimmer from the AC outlet if extended periods of
non-use are anticipated.
DISPOSAL OF BATTERY PACKS
As a consumer you are legally obliged to dispose of batteries and battery packs as
special waste. Information regarding how to remove the battery pack from the
relevant device at the end of its life can be found on page 143. After removing
the battery pack, the device must be disposed of and may NOT be used again.
