Practical handling
Positioning
Position SmartMove to best suit the individual user and where it
will have the greatest effect.
Use
Moving the user to standing:
The carer should make sure that the user is capable of
standing. Position SmartMove either under the small of the
back or under the user's rear. Using weight transference, the
carer can help the user into the standing position and guide
him/her to e.g. another seat.
From seat to seat:
SmartMove can also be used as a draw sheet when using
a glide board. The user leans away from the direction of
movement. The carer positions SmartMove under the user
and over the glide board. The user leans in the direction of
movement. The carer now pulls on the functional handles.
Moving the user higher up in the bed:
Position SmartMove under the user's rear. Place a glide sheet
under the pillow and shoulder blades (if necessary). The carers
grasp one handle each and the user glides higher up in the bed.
