2.4 Electrical connection
The installation must comply with applicable local and/or national regulations. Ensure that the
phase connection with the main fuse is correct. The electrical circuit diagram is on the appliance.
A basic diagram for type G(N)SE can be found in Chapter 7, Electrical circuit diagram. N.B. The
apparatus is phase-sensitive and only works when properly earthed. The appliance must be fitted
with an operating switch that interrupts phase and neutral (and not the earth). The isolator switch
must be accessible at all times. Under no circumstances may the appliance's power supply be inter-
rupted by other switches. This can lead to the appliance overheating.
2.5 Room thermostat and reset button
The room thermostat must be mounted at a height of approx. 1.5 m. and must not be in the direct
path of warm airflow. Each appliance must be fitted with a room thermostat. If you wish to
connect several appliances to one room thermostat, a control box (0647080) must always be used
for each appliance. Connect the room thermostat according to the appliance's electrical circuit
diagram. The circuit diagram will be included in the room thermostat's instructions if it has been
purchased from the supplier of the appliance. The manufacturer's warranty will be void if faulty
connections have been made. The reset button must be placed in full view of the appliance.
3.0 Putting the appliance into/out of operation
3.1 General
Each appliance is fully tested for safety and correct operation prior to being packed. This includes
adjustments to gas pressure, burner pressure and CO. However, always check the burner's
pressure differential and the pre-pressure. Never turn the adjustment screws without good cause.
Above all, do not forget to instruct the user on the correct and operation of the appliance and its
accessories.
3.2 Operational checks
– Switch off the electrical main switch.
– Set the room thermostat to minimum temperature.
– Open the gas stop cock, then bleed the gas pipes carefully and check for leaks. Under no
circumstances may a naked flame be used!
– Close gas stop cock.
– Turn on the electrical main switch and set the room thermostat to the maximum temperature.
After a pre-set time, the automatic burner will strike an arc in the burner, and the gas combina-
tion block's safety shut-off valve will open. It will not produce a flame, because the gas stop cock
will be closed. The automatic burner will lock out after 4 ignition attempts lasting approximately
5 seconds each. After a period of approximately 20 seconds the automatic control can be reset
and the same cycle can be repeated.
– Open the gas stop cock. The appliance will now start to operate.
– Check the appearance of the flames in the main burners (clear flame core, even burning).
– In the case of a G(N)CE appliance, check the fan's direction of rotation and the airflow intake.
– On units with an external fan, check that the maximum heating of 40K is not exceeded.
Checking operation of the room thermostat.
The burners will extinguish at a setting lower than room temperature. The burner will ignite at a
setting higher than room temperature.
