11. Problem solving
PROBLEM
1.
Water comes out of the
safety valve of the hot
water/steam boiler.
2.
Steam comes out of the
safety valve of the boiler,
hot water/steam.
3.
After initialization, the hot
water/steam boiler does
not heat.
4.
After initialization, the
coffee boiler does not
heat.
5.
Water does not come
out of the dispensing
assembly.
6.
Coffee servings cannot be
programmed.
7.
Hot water/steam boiler
level alarm via flashing of
blue LED.
8.
No water alarm signalled
by blue LED flashing at
lower frequency.

CAUSE
• The boiler filling circuit
remains supplied.
• Problem with electrical
system, heating element
always powered causing an
increase in the boiler pressure
(the safety valve trips at 2÷2.5
bar).
• Steam boiler safety
thermostat has tripped.
• The electric heating element is
defective or is not connected.
• Coffee boiler safety
thermostat has tripped.
• The electric heating element is
defective or is not connected.
• Coffee ground too fine or
excessive quantity.
• Water circuit clogged or
empty.
• Cup discharge solenoid and/
or boiler pressure discharge
solenoid defective.
• Coffee pump does not work.
• Water tank empty.
• Abnormal operation of control
unit.
• Timeout for filling.
• Hot water/steam pump
defective.
• No water in tank.
SOLUTION
• Check the level probe of the hot
water/steam probe
• Replace control unit
• Pump always powered.
• Check pressure switch.
• Check if the heating element safety
thermostat has tripped, reset it and
check its proper operation.
• Check that the heating element
is supplied by the control unit
and the pressure switch. Wait for
the coffee boiler to come up to
temperature since during heating it
has precedence.
• Check if the heating element safety
thermostat has tripped, reset it and
check its proper operation.
• Check if the heating element is
connected to the control unit.
• Adjust the grinding coarseness and/
or the quantity of ground coffee.
• Check that the water circuit is not
clogged and the coffee boiler is
properly filled. If the machine is new,
run the initializing cycle and check
that the lime scale filter fills up.
• Check that the cup pressure
discharge solenoid does not leak
during dispensing and that the boiler
pressure discharge valve is closed.
• Coffee pump damaged or not
powered.
• Capacitive sensor defective, does
not signal lack of water (steady blue
LED). For a machine with automatic
filling, refer to point no. 9.
• Replace control unit.
• Lime scale filter for hot water/steam
boiler not filled correctly or water
circuit clogged.
• Pump failed or not powered, does
not fill.
• Filling of potable water in tank.
• For a machine with automatic tank
filling, refer to point no. 9.
