6. Now press on the clamping bracket to be able to fold the front door up-
wards. It automatically engages in the door holding hook.
7. Finally the other end of the arm is inserted into the upper bracket on the
cage. To simulate the worst case scenario, you can test it out by tipping
once on the metal plate, to see if the trap door closes. Should this not occur,
repeat the assembly from point 1.
3. First use
• If you assembled the trap with your bare hands, without the use of gloves,
clean the trap and rub it down with the bait of your choice.
• We recommend protein based bait like fish or poultry, or perhaps lettuce or
berries.
• To increase your chance of success, cover the floor with grass, leaves or
moss and disguise the trap with the same material. Now place the trap
in the area where you suspect marten activity. Ensure that the trap is set
up outside the reach of children or pets. The trap is now ready for serv-
ice. Please check regularly – at least once a day - if you were successful in
catching a marten! After a successful capture, you may release the marten.
However, please be advised that you should take the animal at least 15
miles from the place of capture, as otherwise the marten may find its way
back due to its sense of smell.
• In order to release the marten, open the front door.
Operational tips: Martens react very shyly to unfamiliar objects which mean
that it may take some time for the marten to enter the trap to reach the bait.
Thus, after setup, you should leave the trap in its position for a while. Further-
more, you should only touch the trap wearing gloves, as animals will sense
human smell and thus would keep away.
