Calculation of the required clearance height
Figure 2:
The height of the anchor point and the required ground clearance
must be appropriate in any case to ensure the effectiveness of the
system (see fig. 2):
max. length (fig. 4)
+ Braking distance Δ (fig. 4)
+ Height of user x
+ Safety distance approx. 1 m
+ Elongation of anchorage system (e.g. EN 795 B/C, cf.
manufacturer's user instructions).
Do not use the PEANUT as a work positioning lanyard, i.e. do not
hold onto it or pull yourself up on it.
Figure 3:
Calculation of the clearance height below the ground for mobile
elevating work platforms:
approx. 1,0 m (= max. fall arrest distance - handrail height)
+ Height of user x
+ Downwards movement of the mobile elevating work platform y
during fall arrest load (acc. to manufacturer's specifications)
+ Safety distance, approx. 1 m
It is recommended to use the PEANUT Y in conjunction with the
dorsal attachment point of the full body harness. During use, make
sure that both lanyards don't twist into each otherto ensure proper
functioning.
The anchor point should be at least at waist height, but must not be
below the foot level of the user.
NOTE:
The PEANUT Y are mainly used in scaffolding, on climbing paths
without fall arrest system (EN 353-1) and for horizontal and vertical
movement, e.g. in high-rack warehouses or on containers.
Warning:
There is a risk of injury to the neck and head by the devices and the
lanyards.
5.) Suitability for use with edges
In accordance with the guiding principles for fall protection
equipment used in the baskets of mobile elevating work platforms,
the PEANUT was edge tested twice (table on page 8, line 6). It was
also tested with a steel bar (radius r = 0.5 mm without burrs) for
horizontal applications and a resulting fall over the edge. On the
basis of this test, the PEANUT is suitable for use on similar edges
(table on page 8, line 5). Regardless of this test, the following must
be considered when using in a horizontal or diagonal position
where there is a risk of falling off an edge.
