2 Hinweise für den sicheren Gebrauch
Dieses Gerät entspricht der Richtlinie für elektro-
magnetische Verträglichkeit 89/336/EWG und der
Niederspannungsrichtlinie 73/23/EWG.
Das Gerät wird mit lebensgefährlicher Netzspan-
nung (230 V~) versorgt. Nehmen Sie deshalb nie-
mals selbst Eingriffe im Gerät vor. Durch unsach-
gemäßes Vorgehen besteht die Gefahr eines
elektrischen Schlages. Außerdem erlischt beim
Öffnen des Gerätes jeglicher Garantieanspruch.
Beachten Sie auch unbedingt die folgenden Punkte:
Das Gerät ist nur zur Verwendung im Innenbe-
reich geeignet. Schützen Sie es vor Feuchtigkeit
und Hitze (zulässiger Einsatztemperaturbereich
0 – 40 °C).
Nehmen Sie das Gerät nicht in Betrieb bzw. zie-
hen Sie sofort den Netzstecker aus der Steck-
dose, wenn:

2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to the directive for electro-
magnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC and to the low
voltage directive 73/23/EEC.
The unit is supplied with hazardous mains voltage
(230 V~). Leave servicing to skilled personnel
only. Inexpert handling may cause an electric
shock hazard. Furthermore, any guarantee claim
will expire if the unit has been opened.
Please observe the following items in any case:
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature range: 0 – 40 °C).
Do not operate the unit or immediately disconnect
the plug from the mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the unit or to its
mains cable,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit
was dropped or suffered a similar accident,
1. sichtbare Schäden am Gerät oder an der Netz-
anschlußleitung vorhanden sind,
2. nach einem Sturz oder ähnlichem der Verdacht
auf einen Defekt besteht,
3. Funktionsstörungen auftreten.
Geben Sie das Gerät in jedem Fall zur Reparatur
in eine Fachwerkstatt.
Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker nie an der Zuleitung
aus der Steckdose.
Wird das Gerät zweckentfremdet, falsch ange-
schlossen, nicht richtig bedient oder nicht fachge-
recht repariert, kann für eventuelle Schäden keine
Haftung übernommen werden.
Soll das Gerät endgültig aus dem Betrieb genom-
men werden, übergeben Sie es zur Entsorgung
einem örtlichen Recyclingbetrieb.
3 Einsatzmöglichkeiten
Dieser CD-Spieler ist speziell für den Einsatz in
ELA-Beschallungsanlagen konzipiert. Er kann z. B.
als Musikquelle für Hintergrundmusik dienen und
ist für eine ununterbrochene Musikwiedergabe mit
einem 6fach-CD-Magazin ausgestattet. Über die
Funktion „Random" lassen sich die CDs und alle
Titel in einer zufallsbedingten Reihenfolge ab-
spielen.
4 Transportsicherung entfernen (Abb. 6)
!
Vor der Inbetriebnahme unbedingt die vier
Transportsicherungsschrauben auf der Ge-
räteunterseite entfernen! Die Schrauben sorg-
fältig aufbewahren und vor einem Transport
wieder hineinschrauben. Sie dienen zur Siche-
rung des CD-Laufwerks, das federnd gelagert
ist. Wird der CD-Spieler ohne die Sicherungs-
schrauben transportiert, kann er beschädigt
werden und der Garantieanspruch erlischt.

Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the
mains plug from the socket.
If the unit is used for other purposes than originally
intended, if it is not connected or operated in the
correct way or not repaired by skilled personnel,
no liability for any damage will be accepted.
If the unit is to be put out of operation perma-
nently, take it to a local recycling plant for dispo-
sal.
Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in ac-
cordance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug,
proceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter E or by the earth
symbol
, or coloured green or green and
yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
3 Applications
This CD player is especially designed for PA appli-
cations. It can serve e. g. as music source for back-
ground music and is equipped with a 6-fold CD
magazine for uninterrupted music reproduction. Via
the "random" function the CDs and all titles can be
played in a random sequence.
5 CD-Spieler aufstellen und anschließen
Der PA-2406CD ist für die Montage in ein Rack
(482 mm/19") vorgesehen, kann aber auch als frei-
stehendes Tischgerät verwendet werden. Für den
Einbau in ein Rack werden 2 HE benötigt (HE =
Höheneinheit = 44,45 mm).
Vor dem Anschluß bzw. vor dem Verändern von An-
schlüssen den PA-2406CD und die anzuschließen-
den Geräte ausschalten.
1) Den Ausgang des CD-Spielers an den Eingang
des nachfolgenden Gerätes anschließen (Misch-
pult, Verstärker, Endstufe). Je nach vorhande-
nem Eingang den XLR-Anschluß (20) für eine
Mono-Wiedergabe oder die Cinch-Buchsen (21)
für eine Stereo-Wiedergabe verwenden.
2) Für einen Dauerbetrieb mit Netzausfallsicherung
an die Schraubanschlüsse DC POWER (19) einen
24-V-Akkumulator anschließen. Zur besseren
Handhabung lassen sich die Anschlüsse vom Ge-
rät abziehen und anschließend wieder aufstecken.
Hinweis: Bei angeschlossener Notstromversor-
gung läßt sich das Gerät mit dem Netzschalter
POWER (1) nicht ausschalten. Es wird lediglich
zwischen Netz- und Notstromversorgung umge-
schaltet.
3) Zu den Anschlußmöglichkeiten der Buchse RE-
MOTE CONTROL (22) siehe Kapitel 6.8.
4) Zum Schluß das beiliegende Netzkabel zuerst in
die Netzbuchse (17) und dann in eine Steckdose
(230 V~/50 Hz) stecken.
6 Bedienung
6.1 Ein- und Ausschalten
1) Das Gerät mit dem Netzschalter POWER (1) ein-
schalten. Steht der CD-Spieler in Bereitschaft
[nur die Anzeige „POWER" (7) leuchtet], mit der
Taste CD-POWER (3) auf Betrieb schalten.
Ist eine Notstromversorgung angeschlossen,
leuchtet die Anzeige „POWER" ständig, und der
CD-Spieler ist immer in Betrieb bzw. in Bereit-

Prior to setting into operation remove in any
case the four screws of the transport security
on the lower side of the unit! Carefully keep the
screws and screw them in again prior to a trans-
port. They serve for securing the CD player
mechanism which is spring-suspended. If the
CD player is transported without the security
screws, it can be damaged and the warranty
expires.
5 Placing and Connecting the CD Player
The PA-2406CD is provided for rack mounting
(482 mm/19") but it can also be used as a table top
unit. For the installation into a rack 2 rack spaces are
required (1 rack space = 44.45 mm).
Prior to the connection or changing of connections
switch off the PA-2406CD and the units to be
connected.
1) Connect the output of the CD player to the input
of the following unit (mixer, amplifier, power
amplifier). According to the available input use
the XLR connection (20) for a mono reproduction
or the phono jacks (21) for a stereo reproduction.
2) For a continuous operation with power failure
protection connect a 24 V rechargeable battery to
the screw connections DC POWER (19). For bet-
ter handling, the connections can be drawn off
from the unit and then be pushed on again.
Note: if the emergency power supply is con-
nected, the unit cannot be switched off with the
POWER switch (1). The unit only switches be-
tween mains power supply and emergency
power supply.
3) For connection possibilities of the jack REMOTE
CONTROL (22) see chapter 6.8.
4) Finally connect the supplied mains cable to the
mains jack (17) first and then to a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz).
