Instructions and Adjustments of the Harrow
All basic settings and adjustments shall always be made on a plane surface with the harrow hitched to the tractor and the
wings lowered.
Hitching of the Harrow
The EURO-DAN is hitched to the fixed drawbar of the tractor. Mount the hydraulic hoses. Note: The hoses with blue
dust caps are for harrow lifting; the hoses with yellow dust caps are for wing folding up and the levelling bar.
A
Adjustment of the Harrow Parallel Screw
Lift the centre section so that the harrow tines are just clear of the ground. Adjust with the parallel screw so that the
centre section is in parallel with the ground. Remember to tighten the lock nut. The parallel screw shall be greased so
that it is easy to retighten.
B
Adjustment of Carrying Wheels
After the adjustment of the harrow parallelism, the carrying wheels shall be adjusted.
The harrowing depth of the harrow is controlled by 3 hydraulic cylinders, connected in series in a so-called master and
slave system.
In order to achieve the same harrowing depth in the entire width of the harrow, the hydraulic cylinders shall be
ventilated, reset and mutually adjusted in the following way:
Lift the harrow totally up so that all hydraulic cylinders are totally out, hold the handle in this position for
approximately 20 seconds.
The cylinders have a valve, which in top position ensure that the oil can flow through the system and flush out any air,
and at the same time the hydraulic cylinders are mutually reset. Always repeat this for a few seconds after that the
tractor has been hitched, before the adjustment of the harrow, after that the wings have been lowered, and further a few
times during the working day.
The adjustment shall take place without loosening any of the piston rods from the machine. Set the stop on the master
cylinder so that the tines are just clear of the ground and adjust the centre section up or down to make it be flush with
the wings by extending or shortening the piston rod
not sufficient, the same adjustment may be made of the slave cylinders. Do not turn more than necessary.
The above is a basic position; the harrow must be fine adjusted in the field in order to achieve a perfect result.
After the fine adjustment in the field, the soil heaps of earth in front of the levelling bars shall be evenly distributed
along the entire width of the harrow.
Never turn out the piston rod end of the master cylinder more than 30 mm and on the slave cylinders more than 50 mm.
Remember to tighten the lock nuts.
Form the habit of ventilating the hydraulic system each time the harrow is hitched to the tractor, before the harrowing,
and further a few times during the day when the harrow is being used.
C+D Adjustment of Change-over Valve
The harrow is equipped with a change-over valve, changing the hydraulics between wing lifting and the levelling bar.
When the harrow is lowered in working position, the hydraulics are connected to the levelling bar (picture C), and when
the harrow is lifted up on the wheels, the hydraulics are connected to the wing lifting (picture D). The handle (1) shall
always be in extreme position in transport and harrowing position, respectively. This is adjusted by adjusting the valve
fastening (2), forward and backward and by moving the spring to another hole in the stanchion (3). After the tightening,
the screws shall be tightened to the valve fastening so that the valve does not move.
E
Adjustment of the Levelling Bar
This adjustment takes place when the harrow is lowered to working position in the field. Before the adjustment, the
system shall be ventilated, and this is done in the same way as for the carrying wheels.
Adjust the piston rod heads (1) so that the positions of the levelling bars are identical. The levelling bar of the centre
section shall often be adjusted 5-10 mm further down in order to remove the tractor tracks. When the piston rod end is
screwed out, then lift the levelling bar and vice versa.
Do not screw out the piston rod end more than 20 mm.
Form the habit of ventilating the hydraulic system each time the harrow is hitched to the tractor, before the harrowing,
and further a few times during the day when the harrow is being used. This ventilation only takes approximately 15
seconds.
F
Automatic Locking and Unlocking Device
It is important that the locking device is properly lubricated at the point shown (1) in order to achieve an unproblematic
function. Ensure that the lifting cylinders are totally out when the harrow is in working position.
Always check that the locks are locked before the transport.
