Step 3: Generator Start up Figure
Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator. Use
the following start instructions:
1. Make sure unit is outdoors on a level surface.
NOTICE Failure to operate the unit on a level surface
may cause the unit to shut down.
2. Turn fuel valve (1, X) clockwise to the on (
Wireless Remote Starting
3. Press and hold on/off button (3, A) for one second
on remote start fob to activate generator.
4. Within 5 seconds, press and hold start button (3, B)
for one second. The on/off button on generator will
blink blue when a signal is received and generator
will start.
NOTICE If the generator failed to start, the generator
on/off button will turn red for 5 seconds, then blink green
for up to one minute. Repeat step 4.
Manual or Electric Starting
3. Press activate switch 1 (1, B) to turn on display.
On/off button 2 (1, Z) will blink green for up to one
minute.
NOTICE If on/off button doesn't blink green, battery is
not connected or too low to start generator.
NOTICE This unit is equipped with an e-choke system.
An e-choke system means there is no manual priming
or choking required as long as battery is connected and
charged.
4A. For electric starting; press and hold on/off button
2 (1, Z) for one second while it's blinking green to
start generator. Once generator starts, on/off button
will turn blue indicating generator is ready for use.
NOTICE If generator failed to start, on/off button will
turn red for 5 seconds, then blink green for up to one
minute. Repeat step 4A.
4B. For manual starting; grasp recoil (1, F) and pull
slowly until slight resistance is felt. Then pull rapidly to
start engine. The e-choke may still engage with a low
battery.
NOTICE If generator continues not to start, your battery
may be discharged too low and you will need to manually
choke engine. Remove maintenance cover and position
choke lever (9, A) to choke position (to the right as
shown). The e-choke will automatically turn choke off
once generator starts. Reinstall maintenance cover.
NOTICE If engine starts but fails to run, see Low Oil
Indicator.
Remote Start Lockout
The remote start can be locked out so that your
generator can not be started remotely. To lock out the
remote start, press activate switch 1 (1, B) to turn on
display, then press and hold the on/off button (1, Z) on
the generator for 10 seconds. The on/off light will then
blink red three times signifying remote start function is
locked out. To unlock, repeat.
Pressing either button on the remote start fob, the on/off
button will blink red 3 times when locked and will blink
blue 3 times when unlocked.

QPT™ (QUIET POWER TECHNOLOGY™) Figure
This feature improves fuel economy. When QPT switch
(E) is turned ON, the engine speed will increase as
electrical loads are connected, and decreased as
electrical loads are removed.
With the switch off, the engine will run at a higher speed.

To Restore Home Power Using a Transfer Switch
Connections to your home's electrical system must use a
manual transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician.
The connection must isolate the generator power from
the utility power and comply with all applicable laws and
electrical codes.
To Restore Power Using Extension Cords
Generator may only be loaded up to rated power under
the rated conditions as shown on unit data tag. Reduce
load when using generator outside of rated conditions.
Use only high quality, well-insulated extension cables in
accordance with IEC 60245-4 with the generator's 230
Volt AC outlets. Inspect extension cables before each
use. Check that all extension cables are suitably rated
and are not damaged. When using extension cords
under 40° C, the total length of cords for a cross section
of 1.5 mm² should not exceed 50 m or for a cross section
of 2.5 mm² should not exceed 80 m.
WARNING! Damaged or overloaded extension
cords could overheat, arc, and burn resulting in
death or serious injury.
• Electrical equipment, including cables and plug
connections, should not be defective.
1. Install carbon monoxide alarm(s).
2. When operating generator with extension cords,
make sure it is located in an open, outdoor area,
at least 6.1 m from occupied spaces with exhaust
pointed away.
3. Extension cords running directly into home,
powering indoor items IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
WARNING! Engine exhaust contains carbon
monoxide, a poisonous gas that could kill you in
minutes. You cannot smell it, see it, or taste it.
Even if you do not smell exhaust fumes, you could still be
exposed to carbon monoxide gas.
• Extension cords running directly into the home
increase your risk of carbon monoxide poisoning
through openings.
• If an extension cord running directly into the home is
used to power indoor items, the operator recognizes
that this increases the risk of CO poisoning to people
inside the home and assumes that risk.
4. Install a manual transfer switch as soon as possible
if generator will be used to provide home power
restoration.
