Trickle charging
With trickle charging, consumer loads (e.g. car radio) may be used during the charging
process. Note that

Whilst a battery is being changed, the charger powers the in-car electronics. Any saved
Back-up mode
data (e.g. car radio code, seat settings, etc.) are retained. To operate the charger in
back-up mode, proceed as follows:

Important ! Risk of short circuiting! In the next step, the vehicle pole terminals must not
touch one another.

the power used over a long period is less than the charging current
the charging period is extended and the safety cut-out might therefore be activated.
Switch off engine and ignition, shed all loads
Switch on an interior lamp (approx. 2-15 W)
Set selector switch to correct position
Connect charger lead to the correct vehicle pole terminals
Connect charger to mains supply
Loosen vehicle pole terminals carefully from the battery poles
Charger supplies the in-car electronics
Change battery
Connect vehicle pole terminals to correct poles of the new battery
