The Glider
The Rama Flex is a semi reflex glider designed by Stephan Stieglair in collaboration with the AD
team of test pilots. The concept and goal behind the semi reflex design is to maximize the
potential for efficient powered flight and safety when flying at faster speeds and or stronger
weather conditions.
Understanding the reflex design and how to engage it using the trim tab system is key to
getting the most out of your wing.
The reflex design allows the wing to transition from a paragliding configuration (green profile -
for slowest flight and best lift. Best option for take-off) to one where the trailing edge is
released (pink profile - Lift is compromised for speed. Reflex is installed) shifting the centre of
gravity forward along the wing chord adding pressure to the leading edge. This increased
pressure and diminished angle of attack along the leading edge adds speed and safety to the
glider.
To calibrate the amount of reflex applied to the wing the trim tabs are used at different
increments. The factory pre-set (paraglider) setting is at the lowest point of trim tabs; closed
trim setting. As the trims are progressively released/opened the reflex is engaged.
