Safety
The operating instructions contain basic notices which have to be
observed during the assembly, installation, starting-up and operation.
That is why this instruction manual must be read by the installer and
the responsible operator.
Signs in the instruction manual
The safety instructions in this instruction manual which
can cause harm to people if disregarded are specially
indicated with the general danger sign;
and the warning against electric voltage is especially
indicated by
In case of safety instructions which might cause harm to the machine
or installation and its workings if disregarded this symbol is shown.
By switching the DIP switch 1 to OFF the frequency converter is
switched to speed adjusting operation (see also chapter 3.4).
In speed adjusting operation the direct adjustment of the speed is
effected by the installed potentiometer or by an external control signal
source (see also chapter 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5.1).
The maximum speed is pre-set by the manufacturer in correspon-
dence to the fan type. It must not be increased above the value set
by the manufacturer.
The adjustment is described in chapter 2.3.2.
2.2.1 Control without sensor
The control without sensor is for the control at constant pressure or in
an application-specific controlled condition. The control is effected by
means of an internal model of the fan. The advantage of this control
is that no sensor is needed.
There are specific programmed steady-state characteristics for the
various fan types. This set-up is done by Gebrüder Becker at the
manufacturer's site.
The handling of the control without sensor is done as follows:
The DIP switch 1 must be switched to ON. Now the frequency conver-
ter is set to control operation.
With the DIP switch 4 the mode of operation of the fan or the pump
is set. If the switch 4 is in OFF-position, then the frequency converter
is set to pressure operation. The switch 4 in ON-position consequently
means vacuum operation.
The pressure set-point (or the set-point of any controlled condition) is
directly adjustable by a potentiometer.
The maximum pressure (or the maximum controlled condition) which
can be set by the potentiometer is pre-set by the manufacturer to the
maximum value of the fan type.
The adjustment of the frequency converter is described in chapter
2.3.2.
2.2.2 Sensor-guided PID control
The sensor-guided PID control makes the control at constant pressure
or of an application-specific controlled condition possible by means of
the PID control in the frequency converter.
The connection of the sensor is described in chapter 3.5.2. Terminal
1 is for the distribution voltage, on terminal 6 (analogue input 2) the
signal is callipered and terminal 9 is for grounding.
If you use an absolute pressure sensor the following is to be taken
into account:
The DIP switch 4 has to be set to pressure or vacuum operation. As
mentioned above, OFF means pressure operation and ON vacuum
operation. The input signal is inverted.
If you use a differential pressure sensor or another controlled condition
the DIP switch 4 always has to be in pressure operation (OFF). The
set-point can be directly adjusted by the potentiometer. The adjustable
maximum pressure is pre-set by the manufacturer.
The control parameters of the PID controller are adjustable. The DIP
switch 1 in the ON-position sets the converter to controlled operation.
The adjustments of the parameters for using the sensors and the PID
controller are described in chapter 2.3.2.
The serial interface is for the communication with the converter. The
parameters in the memory of the frequency converter can be modified
via the interface. What parameters can be modified is described in
chapter 2.3.2.
The frequency converter can also be triggered via a field bus interface
(see chapter 2.3.3).
The interface has a two-wire connection according to the standard
EIA RS 485. The transmission rate in standard configuration is 9,600
Baud.
