Operating instructions
Greeting Card, Sound Recording Module
Item no.
1428386
Intended use
The greeting card, sound recording module can record and play back noises, music or speech
with a length of approx. 30 seconds. The module is powered by three coin cells.
The greeting card, sound recording module is glued into a folding greeting card for use. When
the card is opened, the recorded information is played back. You can thus make your own
personal greeting card. The module can be replayed at will.
No part of the product may be modified or converted! The safety instructions are to be observed
without fail!
Safety Instructions and Hazard Warnings
Carefully read the entire manual before using the product. It contains impor-
tant information about correct operation.
The warranty will lapse for damage due to non-compliance with these operating instructions!
We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect
handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! Your guarantee will become void in any
such case. This device is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
Do not leave batteries unattended. They could be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed,
consult a doctor immediately.
Batteries must not be recharged, short-circuited or thrown into fire. There is a risk of explosion.
Avoid playing back the sound directly next to the ear to avoid hearing damage.
Initial operation, assembly and operation
The module is already equipped with three button cells and is thus delivered ready for ope-
ration. Remove the three insulation strips on the batteries. Pull the strips sideways out of the
compartment.
The greeting card, sound recording module is equipped with a self-adhesive surface. You can
glue the module into all commercially available greeting cards.
Pull off the protective cover on the adhesive surface of the module and place the fold edge of
the sound recording module exactly in the fold of the greeting card (see diagram). Press the
module down evenly and firmly onto the greeting card.
Recording messages/sounds
To record a message, press the button and hold it down while recording. A short audio signal
(beep) sounds. The desired information (sounds/music/speech) can now be recorded for up to
approx. 30 seconds using the microphone (metal capsule with felt surface). To end the recor-
ding operation, release the button. If the recording time lasts longer than approx. 30 seconds,
the recording is stopped automatically. In this case, a double audio signal (beep beep) sounds.
If you press the button again, the recorded data will be deleted or written over.
The recording function is available only when the contact for the playback is in the
„not closed = no playback" (greeting card closed) position. Accordingly, if you want
to store new information (sounds/music/voice) on the module, both the recording
button and the microphone must be accessible when the greeting card is closed.
Message/sound playback
Simply open the greeting card to play the recording. The stored information is played once. If
you close the card early, the playback stops immediately.
Inserting/Replacing the Batteries
The batteries have to be replaced when the volume is reduced or the device no longer func-
tions. It is advisable to remove flat batteries immediately to prevent damage caused by leaking
batteries.
To replace the batteries, slide them sideways out of the battery holders and replace them with
three new ones of the same type. The polarity of all three batteries must occur as shown in the
picture (positive terminal points upward).
The internal memory with the recorded information (sounds/music/speech) is retained when
the batteries are changed.
Batteries have a self discharge. In addition, the electronics require a small
amount of current. Therefore, the life of the batteries is limited.
