OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARING FOR OPERATION
1. Checktheheaterforpossibleshippingdamage.Ifanyisfound,
immediatelynotifythefactory.
2. Followallofthe"Precautions".
3. ConnectthePOLfittingofhoseandregulatorassemblytothe
propanecylinderbyrotatingthePOLnutcounterclockwiseinto
thepropanecylinder'svalveoutletandsecurelytightenwitha
wrench.
4. Connectthehosetotheheaterbyrotatingthehosefitting
clockwise.
5. Securelytightenallgasconnections.
6. Openthecylinder'sgasvalveandcheckallgasconnections
withasoapandwatersolution.DONOTUSEAFLAME.
7.
Connectpowercordtowell-grounded115V,60Hz,1Øsource
ofpower.
8. Whenusinganextensioncord,makecertainthatitisa3-wire
(grounded)cordofproperwiresize,minimumlengthof6ft
(1.83m).
START
THE HEATER POWER CORD MUST BE CONNECTED TO
1.
A GROUNDED 115V, 60HZ, 1Ø POWER SOURCE BEFORE
HEATER IGNITIONandalwaysallowheaterfan(blower)torun
for20secondstopurgefuel.
2. Openpropanesupplyvalveonpropanetankslowly.Note:If
notopenedslowly,excess-flowcheckvalveonpropanetankwill
stopgasflow.Ifthishappens,closepropanesupplyvalveand
openagainslowly.Wait15secondsbeforeStep3.
3. Pushandholdautomaticcontrolvalvebutton.Pushpiezo
ignitorbuttonrepeatedlyuntiltheburnerlights.
4. Aftertheburnerlights,keepthegasvalvebuttondepressed
for30secondsthenreleaseandtheheaterwillcontinueto
operate.
WARNING:Besuremotorandfanarerunningbeforepushing
inautomaticcontrolvalvebutton.Flamescouldflashoutside
heaterorinternaldamagetoheatermayresultifmotorandfan
arenotrunning.
STOP
1. Securelyclosevalveonthepropanecylinder.
2. Continuetooperateheateruntilallfuelinthehosehasburned.
3. Unplugthepowercord.
CAUTION:Alwaysshutofffuelsupplybeforedisconnecting
electricalpower.
RESTART AFTER SAFETY SHUTDOWN
1. Securelyclosevalveatpropanecylinder.Unplugpowercord.
2. Wait5minutes.
3. Restartfollowing"START"procedure.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1. Theheatershouldbeinspectedbeforeeachuse,andatleast
annuallybyaqualifiedperson.
2. Beforeeachuse,checkthesoft"O"ringseatatthebullnose
ofthePOLfitting.Ifthe"O"ringiscut,scuffed,orotherwise
damaged,replaceitwithpartnumber6681.
3. TurnoffthegasattheLP-gassupplycylinder(s)whentheheater
isnotinuse.
4. Whentheheateristobestoredindoors,theconnection
betweentheLP-gassupplycylinder(s)andtheheatermust
bedisconnectedandthecylinder(s)removedfromtheheater
andstoredoutofdoorsandinaccordancewithChapter5of
thestandardforStorageandHandlingofLiquefiedPetroleum
GasesANSI/NFPA58andCSAB149.1,NaturalGasandPropane
InstallationCode.
SERVICING
Ahazardousconditionmayresultifaheaterisusedthathasbeen
modifiedorisnotfunctioningproperly.Whentheheaterisworking
properly:
*
Theflameiscontainedwithintheheater.
* Theflameisessentiallybluewithperhapssomeyellowtipping.
*
Thereisnostrongdisagreeableodor,eyeburningorother
physicaldiscomfort.
*
Thereisnosmokeorsootinternalorexternaltotheheater.
*
Therearenounplannedorunexplainedshutdownsofthe
heater.
Thepartslistsandexplodedviewshowtheheaterasitwas
constructed.Donotuseaheaterwhichisdifferentfromthatshown.
Inthisregard,useonlythehose,regulatorandcylinderconnection
fitting(calledaPOLfitting)suppliedwiththeheater.IMPORTANT
Matchthecolorstripeonthehangtagattachedtothehoseassembly
withthecoloronthelabellocatednearthepropaneinletfittingon
theheater.Donotusealternates.Forthisheater,theregulatormust
besetasshownin"specifications".Ifthereisanyuncertaintyabout
theregulatorsetting,haveitchecked.
Aheaterwhichisnot workingrightmustberepaired,butonly by a
trained,experiencedserviceperson.
In-warrantyproductswillberepairedwithnochargeforeitherparts
orlabor.Pleaseincludeabriefstatementindicatingdate,placeof
purchase,thenatureoftheproblemandproofofpurchase.
Out-of-warrrantyproductswillberepairedwithachargeforpartsand
labor.
