OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
Thisisapropane,direct-fired,forcedairheater.It'sintendeduse
isprimarilytemporaryheatingofbuildingsunderconstruction,
alterationorrepair.
Propaneisheavierthanair.Ifpropaneleaksfromaconnectionor
fitting,itsinkstothefloor,collectingtherewiththesurrounding
air,formingapotentiallyexplosivemixture.Obviously,propane
leaksshouldbeavoided,sosetupthepropanesupplywithutmost
care.ReadenclosedOdorFadeandPropaneSheetforadditional
informationaboutdetectingpropaneleaks.Leakchecknew
connectionsorreconnectionswithasoapandwatersolutionand
followallconnectioninstructionsherein.Also,askyourpropane
dealerforadviceonthepropaneapplicationandsupplyinstallation
andaskhimtocheckitifthereareanyquestions.
Thisheaterwasdesignedandcertifiedforuseasaconstruction
heaterinaccordancewithANSIStandardZ83.7/CGA2.14.Check
withyourlocalfiresafetyauthorityifyouhaveanyquestionsabout
yourapplications.Otherstandardsgoverntheuseoffuelgasesand
heatproductingproductsinspecificapplications.Yourlocalauthority
canadviseyouaboutthese.
Direct-Firedmeansthatallofthecombustionproductsenterthe
heatedspace.Eventhoughthisheateroperatesverycloseto100
percentcombustionefficiency,itstillproducessmallamountsof
carbonmonoxide.Carbonmonoxide(calledCO)istoxic.Wecan
toleratesmallamountsbutnotalot.COcanbuildupinaheated
spaceandfailuretoprovideadequateventilationcouldresultin
death.Thesymptomsofinadequateventilationare:
• headache
• dizziness
• burningeyesandnose
• nausea
• drymouthorsorethroat
So,besuretofollowadviceaboutventilationintheseoperating
instructions.
ForcedAirmeansthatablowerorfanpushestheairthroughthe
heater.Propercombustiondependsuponthisairflow;therefore,
theheatermustnotberevised,modifiedoroperatedwith
partsremovedormissing.Likewise,safetysystemsmustnotbe
circumventedormodifiedinordertooperatetheheater.
Whentheheateristobeoperatedinthepresenceofotherpeople
theuserisresponsibleforproperlyacquaintingthosepresentwith
thesafetyprecautionsandinstructions,andofthehazardsinvolved.

4. UseonlyVAPORWITHDRAWALpropanesupply.Ifthereisany
questionaboutvaporwithdrawal,askyourpropanedealer.
5. Mountthepropanecylindersvertically(shutoffvalveup).
Securethemfromfallingorbeingknockedoverandprotect
themfromdamage.

10ft.(3m)fromtheheateranddo notdirectexhausttoward
containers.

IMPORTANTUseonlythehoseandregulatorassembly
providedwiththeheater.Matchthecolorstripeonthehang
tagattachedtothehoseassemblywiththecoloronthelabel
locatednearthepropaneinletfittingontheheater.Inspect
hoseassemblybeforeeachuseoftheheater.Ifthereis
excessiveabrasionorwear,orhoseiscut,replacewithhose
assemblylistedonpartslistbeforeusingheater.
8. Forindooruseonly.Areamustbewellventilated.Provide
minimumopeningsof1/2sq.ft.(.046m²)nearthefloor
and1/2sq.ft.(.046m²)neartheceiling(alsosee"Operating
Precautions").
9. Ifatanytimegasodorisdetected,IMMEDIATELY
DISCONTINUEoperationuntilthesourceofgashasbeen
locatedandcorrected.ReadenclosedOdorfadeandPropane
Sheetforadditionalinformationaboutdetectingpropaneleaks.
10. Installtheheatersuchthatisisnotdirectlyexposedtowater
spray,rainand/ordrippingwater.
