11. Handling
• Protect your base unit against moisture, hot and cold temperature, dust and
direct sunlight (operation is only allowed in dry indoor locations).
• Although the remote sensor is designed for outdoor installation and
operation, it has to be installed in protected locations, e. g. under a carport.
Protect the unit from direct exposure to water or snow as this can cause
damage to it. Moreover, direct sunlight, rain, snow or the like may negatively
affect the measurement accuracy of the remote sensor!
Do not immerse the remote sensor in water or other liquids.
Coldness (e. g. during operation in winter) can have a negative influence on
battery life time; this can cause problems resulting in reduced transmission
range (this particularly concerns rechargeable batteries).
When operating outdoor, the remote sensor must be mounted/installed in a
place where it cannot be stolen/abstracted!
• Never disassemble the product. Have the unit repaired only by an
experienced technician otherwise the unit's approval and guarantee will
expire.
• Do not drop the product even from a low height as this can damage it.
12. Maintenance and cleaning
The product requires no servicing except for battery replacement.
Clean the product with a soft, clean, dry and lint-free cloth. If you wish to clean
the product intensively, use a cloth, slightly moistened with lukewarm water.
You can clean the display of the base unit with a clean, soft brush or a vacuum
cleaner in order to avoid scratches.
Never use solvent-based cleansing agents, since this might damage the
surface of the plastic housing and inscription.

5. Battery and environmental notes
Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of reach of children.
Please observe the correct polarity, when inserting batteries/
rechargeable batteries into the unit.
Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly.
There is a risk of batteries being swallowed by children or pets. In
such a case, seek immediate medical care.
Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries might cause
acid burns when getting into contact with skin, therefore, use
suitable protective gloves.
Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-
circuited or thrown into fire. There could be danger of explosion!
Never disassemble batteries/rechargeable batteries!
Batteries may not be re-charged. There could be danger of
explosion!
Remove batteries/rechargeable batteries to prevent damage to the
unit caused by leaky batteries/rechargeable batteries, if you do not
use the unit for longer periods of time (e.g. when storing).
Please note:
The base unit and remote sensor can also be operated with
rechargeable batteries. But due to the lower voltage (rechargeable
battery = 1.2 V, battery = 1.5 V) the range and operating time are
shorter.
If problems occur when using rechargeable batteries (e.g. low
range, short operating period, poor DCF reception etc.), remove
rechargeable batteries and use common ones.
We recommend you to use high-quality "alkaline batteries"
because their operating life is longer than that of common zinc
carbon batteries.
