10. Appropriate dishes and kitchen utensils

• If possible, use transparent dishes. They permit microwave beams to pass more easily. This results in food heating
more evenly.
• Microwave beams do not pass through metal. Do not use metal containers.
• Do not use dishes made of recycled paper, as they include low amounts of metal, which can cause sparking. Fire
hazard!
• Round and oval dishes are better suited than angular ones, because food in the corners could overheat and boil
over.
• You may cover sensitive areas with some narrow strips of aluminium foil to avoid overheating. Keep a minimum
distance of approx. 2.5 cm between the aluminium foil and the sides of the cooking chamber.
• The following list is intended as a general guideline for the selection of appropriate dishes (√ = suitable,
Χ = unsuitable):

11. Information on microwave cooking

• Always place the food or the grilling plate (9) with food centred on the glass rotating plate (1). Make sure that
nothing protrudes from the edge of the glass rotating plate and the food is not touching the heating element (2).
• Carefully arrange the food. Place thicker edges of food at the edges of the glass rotating plate or dish.
• Observe the cooking time duration to prevent food from overheating. Use the shortest specified cooking time first.
If necessary, you can extend the cooking time.
• Cover food during cooking to prevent splashing and to ensure food is cooked evenly.
• Interrupt cooking to stir, turn over or rearrange the food. In this way, your food heats evenly.
