drug-free method with no side effects
when used properly to treat pain of a
specific origin. The analgesic or soothing
effect is due, among other things, to the
suppression of pain transmission in the
nerve fibres (particularly by the high-fre-
quency pulses) and by the increase in
the excretion of bodily endorphins that
remove the feeling of pain by acting
on the central nervous system. This
method is based on scientific facts and
is approved by the medical profession.
TENS has been clinically tested and is
authorised for the following applications :
Back pain, particularly in
the back and neck;
Joint pains, particularly in the
wrists, knees and ankles ;
Neck pain;
Shoulder pain;
Pain in the arms, legs and abdomen.
EMS function
EMS involves electrical stimulation of the mus-
cles. It is a recognised method that has been
widespread for years in the fields of sport and
cosmetics.
In the field of sport, EMS is primarily a sup-
plement to the conventional muscle workout,
which helps enhance muscle performance and
efficiency. Its other function is to relax and
reduce muscle fatigue. Both these functions
therefore include :
Muscle workout to improve en-
durance and performance;
Help with strengthening certain
muscles or targeted muscle groups;
Relaxation of the muscles
to remove tension;
Reduction in the symptoms
of muscle fatigue;

ery after substantial effort (a

In cosmetics, electro-stimulation means that
the body can be shaped to the cosmetic results
required. Electro-stimulation thus helps with
inch loss on the hips, thighs and waist and with
reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Fitted with separate control channels, digital
TENS/EMS has the advantage of allowing the
intensity of the pulses to be controlled sepa-
rately on the two parts of the body to be treat-
ed, for example to cover the two sides of the
body or to simulate the largest areas of tissue
uniformly. Setting the intensity of each chan-
nel individually will also enable you to treat
two different areas of the body simultaneously,
thus saving time compared with individual se-
quential treatment.
With the suggestions for positioning and the
programme displays that appear in these in-
structions, you can quickly and easily find the
device's setting that corresponds to the use
you want to make of it (according to the area
of the body concerned) and according to the
effect you require.
CURRENT SETTINGS
The electrical stimulation devices operate
with the following settings. Depending on
their setting, they have a different effect on
the effectiveness of the stimulation.
Form of pulses
It describes the time function of the excita-
tion current. There is a distinction between
monophasic and biphasic pulse currents. In
the presence of monophasic pulse currents,
the current flows in one direction, whereas the
excitation current changes direction during
