CALEXLINK SOFTWARE
SOFTWARE CALEXLINK
System Requirements.
CalexLink software is designed to run
under Microsoft Windows. Suitable ver-
sions are Windows 95 and Windows 98.
The recommended minimum computer
specification is:
Intel 486 processor
VGA display with 640 x 480 resolution
25 pin parallel port (usually located at
the rear of the PC and marked "LPT1")
conforming to IEEE1284
Connecting the IL Sensor to a PC
i) Turn off your PC
ii) Connect the standard 25-pin connector
of the PC interface cable into the LPT
port on your PC (an extension lead
may be necessary)
NOTE Do not disconnect the interface cable
before closing down the CalexLink program
Installation
i) Insert the PC interface software disk
(CalexLink) into your disk drive
ii) Click on the Windows [Start] button
and then click [Run]
iii) Type in a:\setup.exe and click on [OK]
iv) Follow the on-screen instructions.
Calexlink is installed into the following loca-
tion: C:\Program Files\IL Sensor\
It can be accessed by entering: [Start]
[Program]
[IL Sensor]
You are recommended not to change the
default folder name: [IL Sensor]
v) Click [Finish]
This will create a directory IL Sensor and install
the CalexLink program in this directory.
Software Features
The CalexLink software has been designed to
be simple to use, and to require a minimal
amount of configuration. CalexLink reads
temperature data from the IL Sensor approx-
imately every 500msec, and displays it in dig-
ital form.
Configuration
Selection of Target Emissivity.
To set an Emissivity value for the IL Sensor,

use the main program menu to select:
[Configuration]
You will then see a table of materials, and
their associated emissivities. Either select a
value from the list or enter a value of your
own.
Selection of Temperature Units and Range.
Use the main program menu to select:
[Configuration]
Select °C or °F; set the output corresponding
to 4 mA (minimum -20°C); set the output cor-
responding to 20 mA (maximum 500°C).
Note the minimum span setting is 100°C.
Selection of Averaging Period.
To minimise the effects of temperature fluc-
tuations, noise etc on the output signal, use
the main program menu to select:
[Configuration]
Select an averaging period between 0 and 60
seconds.
Selection of Peak/Valley Hold.
Use the main program menu to select:
[Configuration]
Select Peak Hold, Valley Hold or None.
If peak or valley hold is selected, enter a hold
period between 0 and 1200 seconds.
