SET-UP FOR ARC (STICK) WELDING
The electrode may require either a positive or a negative charge for optimum results.
Consult the electrode manufacturer's information for the correct polarity set-up. The
default configuration for ARC is with the ground lead connected to the negative power
socket and the electrode holder connected to the positive power socket.
1.
Plug the electrode holder cable into the power socket appropriate to the
electrode type. Plug the ground cable into the other power socket and
clamp onto the workpiece.
2.
Turn the power source on and push the welding selection key (N) under
welding mode (M) to select welding mode DC Stick.
3.
Press the parameter selection key (Q) to choose current.
4.
Turn the adjustment knob (O) to increase or decrease the amperage on the digital
display. Press the knob to set the amount of current supplied to the electrode.
a.
When using a foot pedal with the welding unit, the number in the
digital display is the maximum amperage supplied to the electrode.
5.
Hold the electrode holder away from the workpiece and insert the electrode.
6.
Proceed to the welding task.
