Possible causes and / or solutions
1. Make sure you have identified the correct connectors on the vehicle side and the towing
harness side and that you have connected them correctly (Details in the assembly instructions).
2. Make sure the connectors are well snapped together. The connection mechanism requires an
insertion effort.
3. Make sure that the specific towing harness kit is compatible with the model or year of
manufacture of the car. Contact your supplier if necessary.
1. Do not install the harness , contact your supplier
1. Make sure you have correctly connected the 7 or 13 pin plug. Refer to the assembly
instructions.
2. Make sure that the microswitch located in the coupling socket is correctly connected and that
it is activated when inserting the trailer socket
It enables the coils of the various towing harness relays to be grounded, and therefore the
ignition of the various functions of the trailer. The micro switch must be connected according to
the diagram in the assembly instructions (green / yellow and gray wire).
The absence of the trailer deactivates the micro switch and this eliminates the power at the
coupling socket.
When you lift the socket cover, a small lug protrudes on the left side. By pressing on it, you
activate the micro switch.
3. Make sure that the +12 volts connection to the battery and the earth to the vehicle are
correctly made and that the fuse is in place in order to transmit sufficient power for the signal
lights of your trailer.
4. Make sure you have turned on the parking lights first, if this is not the case, disconnect the
black 4-way power supply connector (L) as well as the white 6v function input connector (D).
Reconnect connector (L) first, then reconnect connector (D) a few seconds later.
5. If you have made the connection correctly, but the lights on your trailer are not working, it
could be a faulty electronic box or relay. In this case, contact your supplier.
6. Function tests should be carried out with a trailer and not with a voltage tester.
7. Check that the bulbs on the trailer are not defective.
1. The specific LEONI towing harnesses do not operate on the vehicle's CANBUS network under
any circumstances. They are not intrusive on the vehicle. The faults that are triggered on the
vehicle can in no case come from the specific LEONI towing harness.
1. Make sure that the kit is compatible with the fog light cutout and respect the maximum trailer
powers on the fog light that are in the assembly instructions.
2. Make sure the vehicle fog light bulb and the trailer light bulbs are functionals.
3. If the trailer does not have a fog light. An alert can be automatically sent to the dashboard.
1. Check that the lamps which perform the relevant functions on the vehicle are not defective
and transmit false information to the trailer.
2. Check the maximum trailer powers which are in the assembly instructions.
1. Make sure that the Towbar harness kit is compatible with this function.
Refer to the assembly instructions for more information.
1. Check the status of the vehicle's lamps with the function activated.
2. The harness is not suitable for the version of the vehicle (presence of PWM signal).
