ADVANCED USE OF THE SD90
These operating instructions are a supplement to the standard user guide for the SD90 smoke
alarm. This manual contains extra options for advanced use.
Foreword
You can register the smoke alarm as a sensor on your system by modifying the settings of the smoke
alarm. This has two advantages:
1. In the case of a smoke alarm, you can see which sensor triggered the alarm (useful when you are
warned by telephone).
2. The console will indicate that the battery is running low.
1. Setting the addresses
A. Emergency address
Your SD90 smoke alarm has two addresses. The first address is used as an "emergency address".
This emergency address ensures that your Marmitek security system always reacts to the alarm, even
when the system is not activated. In this case, your Marmitek security system views the smoke alarm
as a remote control. Because of this, you cannot see which sensor triggered the alarm. The battery
status is also not monitored.
You only need to change the emergency address whenever your neighbours are using an SD90
sensor on the same address. The sensors use address 1 as default. You can change this to 2 ... 15.
You can also SWITCH OFF the emergency function. To do this, set the emergency address to
address 16.
PLEASE NOTE: WHENEVER YOU SET THE EMERGENCY ADDRESS TO ADDRESS 16, YOUR
SYSTEM WILL NOT RESPOND UNLESS YOU ACTIVATE YOUR SECURITY SYSTEM !!
B. Sensor address
In addition to the "Emergency address", you can also activate a sensor address on the smoke alarm.
You will receive a sensor alarm whenever a smoke alarm is caused and your security system is
activated. The advantage of a sensor alarm is that the console shows you which sensor triggered the
alarm. Above all, with the Marmitek SC9000/SafeGuard/TotalGuard you can HEAR, via the call-in
function, which sensor triggered the alarm. This means that you will always know quickly where the
problem is, so you can take the right course of action.
The sensor address is switched off (address 1) as default. The sensor address is activated when you
change the address to 2 ... 16. You must allocate a different sensor address to each SD90 smoke
alarm.
Example:
SD90 No. 1 -> Sensor address 5
SD90 No. 2 -> Sensor address 6
SD90 No. 3 -> Sensor address 7
Your console will react to the Emergency address whenever a smoke alarm is triggered and you have
not activated your security system.
This will not happen when you have programmed Emergency address 16!
Your console will react to the Sensor address whenever a smoke alarm is triggered and you have
activated your security system.
This will not happen when you have programmed Sensor address 1!
