9.2 T1-T2 motor protection
V2 - V4 - A2 - A4 - G - H models are equipped with T1-T2 thermal sensors in the winding (to be connected to a
control panel built with appropriate protection modules), which promptly notify any motor over temperatures,
whilst at the same time stopping the pump. This protection is normally closed, and opens when a temperature
of 130 °C is reached, stopping the power supply, and closing back when the temperatures falls down again
to 75 °C (see diagrams).
9.3 Seal leak detector (S)
V2 - V4 - A2 - A4 - G - H models are itted with a control electrode. A sensor in the oil well promptly detects
any iniltrations of liquids through the components of the seal.
The purpose of this device is therefore to ensure that the mechanical seal on the impeller side is operating
correctly. The notiication of presence of pumped liquid in the oil well is given through an optical or acoustic
alarm on the electric panel.
The seak leak detector must be interfaced with a barrier consisting an intrinsic safety
active electric construction, in case of ATEX pump.
The installation must only be carried out by specialist personnel, or personnel qualiied
by Dreno Pompe.
9.4 Connection to the seal leak detector
Submersible electric pumps must be protected by a cut-out device capable of interrupting the electric power
supply in case of overtemperature of the winding with the tripping of the thermal circuit breaker, and if the
suction port is not submerged by liquid. These devices must not reset themselves, and the restart of the
pump must be subjected to manual rearming performed after checking that the loat is working correctly.
WARNING: electric pumps must be protected by a cut-out device capable of interrupting
the electric power supply in case of overtemperature.
9.5 Rotation direction (three-phase pumps only)
After each new connection, lack of phase or voltage, an inversion of the phases may occur Therefore, it will
be necessary to check the rotation direction. Wrong rotation direction causes overheating of the motor, high
level of vibrations, and signiicantly reduced pump performance.
To check that the rotation direction of the impeller is correct, slightly tilt the pump, and start it without load
for a few seconds.
WARNING: when starting the pump, keep away from the impeller. be careful of the start
counter blow, which may cause danger.
If when starting the pump, there is an anticlockwise counter blow (as seen from the top), the connection is
correct. Otherwise, stop the power supply and invert the two phases.
From the bottom view (from the suction port), the correct rotation of the impeller is anticlockwise.
10. Standards of use and further warnings
10.1 Transport
WARNING: never lift the pump using the electric cable; always use the appropriate
handle.
When moving the pump from one location to another, for safety reasons always stop
the power supply.
