Controlling SM42A, SM82A, SM84A and SM164A Matrixes with SWC4, SWC8, DCMT8

Please follow the steps given below for correct installation:
• Set the Matrix with the Videotec switcher protocol at 1200 or 9600 baud (see matrix manual) depending
on the baud rate setting on the keyboard (SWC4, SWC8, DCMT8).
• On the keyboard set the same baud rate as the Matrix and DCFIT settings.
• Set the dip switches on SW1 in the DCFIT appropriately. Configure Dip 1 on SW1 according to the
baud rate used for the matrix and the keyboard. If a 9600 communication rate is used set Dip 2 to
the ON position, otherwise OFF. Leave Dip 3 in the OFF position. Set Dip4 to the ON position.
• Set both JP1 and JP2 jumpers to position B (see configuration of JP1 and JP2 jumpers on page 6)
• Connect the SMXXA matrix with the DCFIT (RS485, max. 1200 metres)
• Connect the keyboard with the DCFIT (Current Loop 20mA, max. 500 metres)
• Power the DCFIT (GND and 12V= terminals of J1) using a local power supply or the matrix
The connection between the SMXXA Matrix and the DCFIT must be made through the RS485 line on the A
and B terminals of J1. A RJ-jack box and a telephone cable (supplied with the keyboard) must be used for
the connection with the matrix, according to the following table:

NB: The SMXXA matrix can be used to supply power to the DCFIT. The power supply cables must
not be more than 50 metres long if power is supplied by matrix.
Connection of the SWC4, SWC8 or DCMT8 keyboards with the DCFIT must be carried out through the RX2
and RX terminals (Current Loop line) of the J2 terminal. Moreover, a RJ-jack box and a telephone cable
(supplied with the keyboard) must be used for the keyboard connection, according to the following table:
