8. Charging the vehicle battery
• The vehicle comes with a 6-cell NiMh rechargeable battery and a NiMH battery charger. Refer to the charger
instructions before charging the battery.
Warning!
The NiMH battery charger should only be used to charge a NiMH vehicle battery. Attempting to
charge a LiPo battery with the NiMH battery charger may cause a fire or explosion!
A LiPo battery can only be charged with a compatible LiPo battery charger (similarly, NiMH batteries must
be charged with a NiMH charger). If you wish to purchase a LiPo battery for the vehicle, you will also need
to purchase a suitable LiPo battery charger.
• The vehicle battery is empty when the product is shipped and must be charged. Several complete discharge and
charge cycles are required to ensure that the battery reaches it maximum performance.
NiMH and LiPo batteries can be recharged when they are partially discharged. They do not normally need to be
fully discharged in advance.
• High-quality vehicle batteries have a higher capacity, which results in a longer battery life. They also have a higher
output voltage, which provides more power for the motor for enhanced acceleration and higher speeds.
• The vehicle battery heats up when charging/discharging (i.e. when driving the vehicle). Wait until the battery has
reached room temperature before charging it. The same applies after the battery has finished charging. Allow the
battery to cool down before connecting it to the vehicle.
• Only use a charger that is designed for the type of vehicle battery used (e.g. NiMH or LiPo).
• Always remove the battery from the vehicle before recharging it.
