This guide must be translated by the dealer into the language of the country of use (except if the translation is provided by the manufacturer).
For your safety, respect strictly the use, checking, maintenance and storage instructions.
Please note that there are many ways to misuse the descender, but only a few are described in this guide.
ONLY THE CORRECT USE MODES DESCRIBED IN THIS GUIDE ARE ALLOWED.
The user is responsible for the risks to which he is exposed. People who do not assume their responsibilities should not use this product. The KRATOS
SAFETY company may not be held liable for any accident, whether direct or indirect, resulting from a usage other than that provided for in this guide.
Do not exceed the limits of this equipment!
USE AND PRECAUTIONS:
Ascender handles are designed for rope access. An inappropriate use can cause serious and even fatal accidents. This user instruction will not teach
you the techniques for using this equipment; the use of this equipment is therefore reserved for expert users. So it is essential, to be trained in these
techniques before the use.
Whatever the technique of using the ascender handle, check during the use the good position of the connector in the fastening hole of the ascender
handle, the pulling forces must be applied to the connector only along the large axis.

Installing the rope:
Pull the safety catch (2) down with your thumb and lock it on the frame (1) of the device, this action pulls the cam (3) out of the slot (4). Then put the
rope into the slot (4), and replace the cam and the safety catch by pushing the safety catch. Do the same to remove the rope from the ascender handle.
After installing the device, make a blocking attempt and check the sliding up (direction of use) of the ascender handle. Use semi static ropes EN1891
Type A - diam. 10 to 12 mm.
The rope used with the handled ascender must not be used as rope for the fall arrest system.
Do not use the handled ascender on dirty or frozen ropes. Avoid dynamic stress for it may damage the rope or reduce its serviceable life. Make sure that
the rope end is always properly tied in order to prevent the rope from unintentionally going out of the ascender handle at the end of the rope – this will
prevent serious injuries and even death.
Use:
This ascender handle is designed for rope access when used in combination with a pedal foot loop (Ref.: FA 70 013 00). In that case, the pedal foot loop
should be installed in the fastening hole (A) with a connector. In order to keep the rope from coming off accidentally, we recommend that you install a
connector in the safety hole (B) (which will lock the rope between the slot (4) and the connector).
Attach the progression rope to an anchor point (EN795) R> 15kN. Make sure that the anchor point of the rope is always above the work zone. Sharp
edges, small diameter structures and corrosion should be avoided as they may affect the performance of the cable or strap; or they should be adequately
protected.
Product markings should be checked periodically for legibility.
Before and during use, we recommend that you take all the necessary precautions for a safe rescue should it be needed.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the user's safety, if exposed to extreme temperatures (<
-30°C or > 50°C), prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity), chemical agents, electrical constraints, twisting of the fall arrest system
during use, sharp edges, friction or cutting, etc.
This equipment is for the sole use of people trained, skilled and in good health, or under the supervision of a trained and skilled person. Warning! Certain
medical conditions may affect user safety; if in doubt, consult your doctor.
Ensure that the general arrangement limits swinging in the event of a fall, and that the work is done in such a way as to limit the risk and the height of
a fall.
Before using, always check the condition of the ascender handle : visual inspection in order to monitor the condition of the frame, the connection holes,
the safety catch and the cam, and the springs; they should be clean, free of deformation or oxidation, of abrasive or sharp parts likely to damage the
rope. The axes should be properly fixed, the cam should return in closed position without blocking. Product markings should be readable. In case of
deformation or if in doubt, the ascender handle must be withdrawn from service and should be replaced. After a fall, or in case of doubt, the product
should not be reused and should be marked "OUT OF SERVICE" (see paragraph entitled "INSPECTION").
Do not remove, add or replace any component of the device.
Chemical products: remove the device from service should it be exposed to chemical products, solvents or combustible materials that could affect its
operation.
TECHNICAL DATA: Material: aluminium. Weight: 220 g.
SUITABILITY FOR USE:
The ascender handle should be used with a complete system of rope access including rope, connectors, ventral rope clamp, pedal foot loop... In every
instance, the device should be used in combination with a fall arrest system such as defined in the descriptive data sheet (see standard EN363) to
guarantee that the dynamic force exerted on the user during the arrest of a fall is maxi 6 kN. A harness (EN361) is the only body-gripping device that
may be used. It can be dangerous to create one's own fall protection system in which each safety function can interfere with another safety function.
Thus, before using the system, refer to the usage recommendations of each component of the system.
AN ASCENDER HANDLE WITH ITS WORK ROPE CANNOT BE CONSIDERED AS A FALL PROTECTION SYSTEM.
SERVICE LIFE:
Service life of the product is 10 years, it is linked to a variety of factors, such as frequent or incorrect usage, climatic conditions (humidity, frost and ice),
strong stresses, exposure to heat sources, ageing, exposure to chemical agents, etc. It may be increased or reduced according to use and/or the results
