Improper uses: WARNING
The electric pump units are not suitable for:
- dry operation;
- installation below the water level: less than 0.3 m more than 150 m.
- installation in a booster
- pumping fluids other than clear water;
- operation in closed places for longer than 2 minutes;
- continuous service when the speed of the water outside the motor casing is less than the value given on the motor's data plate;
GB
- highly intermittent service;
- an intake pressure that is lower than the required NPSH (consult the specific technical documentation) ;
- pumping fluids with temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F);
- operation when the pressure surges exceed 50 bar (water hammer);
- pumping water in which the concentration of solids exceeds 150 g/m3 E4XP, 300 g/m3 E4XE, 450 g/m3 E4XPD60 (g/m3 = parts/million);
- pumping inflammable liquids;
- operation in places where explosion hazards have been classified.
Also check to make sure that the product conforms to any local limitations.
4.
STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Store the product in a dry place, sheltered from the weather.
Make sure that the electric pump unit and all the other parts of the system are positioned in a stable way.
WARNING To store the machine safely after a previous installation, the electric pump must be thoroughly cleaned (it is absolutely forbidden
to use products containing hydrocarbons for this purpose).
The electric pump unit must be handled with care and circumspection. Use lifting means and harness that are fit for the purpose
and that conform to the safety standards. Take care to make sure that the unit is not subjected to bending stress.
Consult the information given in chapter 10 'Technical specifications, dimensions and weights' for the weight of each individual
component.
Never ever use the powering or grounding cables for handling purposes.
Take care to prevent the cables from being bent when the motor or electric pump unit are set in the vertical position.
The free ends of the cables must never be immersed or wetted in any way.
WARNING The unit must never be subjected to bending stress whilst it is being handled.
5
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
Do not discard the packaging materials in the environment. These items must be disposed of in compliance with the local disposal and anti-pollution
laws.
WARNING
Before lowering the electric pump into the well or tank, MAKE SURE THAT THE SUPPLIED GALVANIC PROTECTION HAS BEEN
INSTALLED COMPLETE WITH O-RING SEAL between the pump and motor and REMOVE ALL THE STICKERS and all traces of adhesive tape
and felt-tip pen marks FROM THE UNIT. Motor and pump plates must not be removed since they are made of special material suitable for harsh
environments. When these operations are carried out, be careful to avoid scratching the outer surface of the machine. Strict compliance with these
instructions will notably increase the product's corrosion resistance.
If the environment is particularly corrosive, order the second galvanic protection from Caprari and install it between the valve and delivery pipe.
5.1
Preliminary inspections:
WARNING Always make sure that the motor and pump rotors are free to turn.
Assembled unit:
1)
fix the electric pump unit in the vertical position and make sure that it is stable;
2) operate the coupling by hand to make sure that the rotor is free to move.
Disassembled unit:
1)
fix the motor in the vertical position and make sure that it is stable. Bind the end of the shaft
to prevent it from being damaged and, using pliers, make sure that the rotor is free to turn;
2) with the pump in the horizontal position, use a screwdriver in the grooved part of the coupling to make sure that it is free
to turn, taking care to prevent the toothing from being damaged.
5.2
Plant features: ATTENTION
8
Always check that the suction pressure and minimum dynamic level of the water in any installation are
sufficient to:
- meet the NPSH conditions required to avoid damages to the pump and to the motor (consult the specific
technical documentation);
- avoid air from being intaken as this could create a vortex.
Install minimum level gauges if necessary.
Deep well
Check that the motor is raised at least 2÷3 meters from the bottom of the well in order to ensure correct
operation. The well drawing filters must always be below the position occupied by the motor in order to
ensure correct cooling.
Check for any variations to the dynamic level of the well. These could be caused by a seasonal lowering
in the water-bearing stratum or by an excessive pump power in relation to the dynamic features of the
well itself.
