Using the Product as Intended
• The S88 AC feedback decoder is designed to be con-
nected to L88 (60883).

Safety Notes
• Voltage is supplied to the S88 by means of L88 (60883).
• Connections are to be made to the S88 AC feedback
module only when the voltage is turned off.
• WARNING! Sharp edges and points required for operation.
• The housing must not be opened.
• The S88 AC decoder is designed only for use in dry areas.
• The LEDs in this item correspond to Laser Class 1 accor-
ding to Standard EN 60825-1.

• The operating instructions are a component part of the
product and must therefore be kept in a safe place as
well as included with the product, if the latter is given to
someone else.

Functions
The S88 AC decoder registers and stores in memory elec-
trical contacts when momentary or continuous switches
connected to it are activated. Typical momentary contacts
are the Märklin circuit track or reed contacts. An example
of a continuous contact is the Märklin H0 contact tracks. All

switching contacts used with the S88 decoder must switch
to ground (brown connection) in the Märklin Digital system.
This ground connection can also be made on the track
detection module (socket marked with –).
Connect
This decoder is connected with the cable included with it
directly to the L88 or to another S88 AC (make sure the cable
is plugged in correctly). An address is assigned automati-
cally.
See Page 10 for various connections for the contacts. Con-
figuration of the contacts can only be done with the control
unit (see instructions for the control unit being used).
