WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible
serious injury.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-
based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact
with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or
destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
LONG-TERM STORAGE
When storing the paint sprayer for 16 hours or more, a thor-
ough cleaning is recommended.
Shut down the paint sprayer using Release Pressure
Procedure.
Unplug the paint sprayer.
Thoroughly clean paint sprayer and pistol-grip sprayer
following the instructions in Cleaning the Sprayer earlier
in this manual.
Be sure that machine and tubes are clear of any water or
fluid, as these may freeze.
MAINTENANCE
CLEANING THE PISTOL-GRIP SPRAYER
FILTER
See Figure 15, page 19.
Shut down the paint sprayer using Release Pressure
Procedure.
Unplug the paint sprayer.
Check that pistol-grip sprayer trigger is locked off.
Remove pistol-grip sprayer from high pressure fluid hose
using wrenches provided.
Remove hex socket screw and nut from trigger guard.
Using the wrenches provided, turn the nut on the fluid
tube counterclockwise.
Remove the filter from the sprayer handle, noting correct
orientation for reinstallation.
Thoroughly clean filter container with water (for water-
based paints) or Klean Strip
mula Paint Thinner or Klean Strip
Thinner (for oil-based paints or varnish).
If filter has any holes, replace with new filter. NEVER
puncture filter with any object.
Replace filter in spray handle with tapered end down and
facing the fluid tube.
NOTE: The sprayer will not work if filter is not installed
properly.
Using wrenches provided, tighten nut on fluid tube.
Reinstall hex socket screw and nut in trigger guard.
Tighten securely.
Reinstall pistol-grip sprayer to high pressure fluid hose.
