1 - Important safety recommendations
- Read all the instructions.
- This pot cooks under pressure. If used incorrectly it may cause an accident and severe burning.
Make sure the pressure cooker is properly closed before heating (see user guide).
- Every ti m e you pl a n to use i t , check that the val v es are not bl o cked. You must fol l o w the i n structi o ns
given in paragraph 7 and check all the safety devices beforehand.
- Always adhere to the following fling quantities:
• Never use the pressure cooker with less than 25 cl (a large glassful) of liquid inside it. In the
absence of liquid, overheating can occur and extensively damage your pressure cooker.
• Never fill the pressure cooker beyond 2/3 of its capacity.
• When cooking food that gives off scum or that swells during cooking (rice, pulses and dried
vegetables, etc. ) , never fill the pressure cooker beyond 1/3 of its capacity.
• Overfi l l i n g the pressure cooker i s l i k el y to bl o ck the safety devi c es and create i n ternal overpressure.
- Never put the pressure cooker on a heat source until the lid is completely and properly
closed, as explained in the instructions in paragraph 5.
- Do not use the pressure cooker to cook food that is likely to froth up and block the safety
device vents such as apples, cranberries, pearl barley, oatmeal or other cereals, split peas,
noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, rhubarb, or currants.
- When cooking mushy products, shake the pressure cooker gently after decompression and
before opening the lid to avoid being sprayed by trapped steam bubbles in the food.
- Some cuts of meat, such as beef tongue, have a surface skin that bloats under pressure. Do
not prick the meat if the skin looks bloated, as it will probably spurt and scald you.
- Never leave the pressure cooker unattended while it is working. Once the pressure cooker
has come up to steam, make sure that a little steam escapes through the regulator at all times.
- When the operating pressure is reached, lower the heat so that the liquid that is creating the
steam, does not evaporate.
- Clean your pressure cooker following the instructions given in paragraph 7 after every use.
- Follow the instructions for using your cooker hob.
- Do not put the pressure cooker in a heated oven.
- If something goes wrong while you are cooking, turn off the heat immediately and depressurize
following the instructions given in paragraph 5. Do not re-use your pressure cooker until you
have cleaned it and carried out all the checks described in paragraphs 7 and 5.
If the problem persists, contact your service centre.
- Be particularly careful if you need to move your pressure cooker while in use or coming to
the end of cooking. Pick it up only by its handles to avoid touching the hot surfaces. Use oven
gloves if necessary. Never invert it. Watch out for steam that may spurt from the regulator.
- Never force the pressure cooker open. Do not open until you have made sure that the internal
pressure has dropped completely. Always follow the instructions for de-pressurizing the pressure
cooker gi v en i n paragraph 5. I f i t doesn' t open easi l y , there i s resi d ual pressure i n si d e the pressure
cooker. The depressurizing instructions in paragraph 5 must be followed through to the end.
- This pressure cooker is only designed to cook food under pressure. Never use it for any other
reason.
- Never use this pressure cooker to fry food under pressure.
- Do not make any modifications to your pressure cooker and do not try out any home repairs
that are not described in this instruction leaflet.
- Replace the gasket regularly and only use SITRAM spare parts that are identical to the
original parts. Only the base and cover of this SITRAM pressure cooker model match properly.
- Do not leave children in the vicinity of the pressure cooker while it is in use.
-Do not attempt any work on the safety systems unless it is described in the cleaning
instructions
