SW6 LED interference signal memory fig. 23
ON: During commissioning or functional checking, the LED indicator is used to display
the maximum interference level (3.4V), yellow LED. This display / memory is not clea-
red until after a reset, functional check, or when the alarm threshold is reached. In case
of an alarm (4V), the red LED indicates the alarm simultaneously with the alarm relay.
Important: During closing or opening of the detector housing, major structure-
borne noise signals may be produced which may reach the maximum interference
level or even the alarm threshold. Any statements on interference signal storage
(yellow LED) are thus precluded when the detector housing is installed.
OFF: With this setting, the LED indicator is inactive (normal operating mode).
Important: Any relevant maximum interference signal will be stored also in case of
SW6 «OFF», but will not be displayed unless the switch is changed over to «ON»
(yellow LED).
Remote controlled sensitivity reduction fig. 24
An additional feature of this detector is a sensitivity reduction input at terminal 7
which can be activated from distance if required. Using a LOW signal, the detector
is reduced to about 1/5 of the seinsitivity setting for as long as there is heavy func-
tional noise by means of a touch-sensitive switch on the opening device during op-
eration of day-night deposit.
Thermal protection
In monitoring for thermic attacks or attempted tampering directly at the detector, the
temperature fuse provides another safeguard against tampering. At 0.1A loading,
1°C/min. rate of temperature increase, the response temperature is 98°C±2°C.
Permanent temperature levels of ≤76°C will not affect the temperature protection
feature. When the temperature protection feature is defective, the detector must be
replaced, as the proper operation of the detector cannot be guaranteed longer and
the tamper loop has been permanently broken.
GMXD2 Anti-drilling shield fig. 25
As an additional protection of the detector against tampering, a specially hardened
anti-drilling shield is fitted into the detector housing. This cover plate serves to reli-
ably protect the tamper contact as well as the detector connection section against
any potential tampering manipulation.
GMXC1, GMXC2 Conduit connection sleeve fig. 26
The function of the conduit connection sleeves is to ensure fixed and secure con-
nection of surface-mounted conduits. Max. outside diameter of the conduit:
GMXC1 up to 21mm, GMXC2 up to 16mm.
Smaller-size surface-mounted conduits may require fitting of an appropriate transi-
tion sleeve.
To fit the conduit connection sleeve, proceed as follows:
Route the surface-mounted conduit to within about 5mm of the detector housing
and fit the conduit connection sleeve onto the surface-mounted conduit.
Wire the connecting cable and secure in place at the detector by a cable strap (fig.
23).
Knock out the entire cable entry in the plastic section.
Fit the detector housing onto the conduit connection and detector, tighten the
housing screws.
Commissioning
Switch on voltage – wait 1 minute – the detector is ready for operation.
Functional check: Simulate a burglary signal in the supervised area, for example
scratch lightly with a screwdriver or testsignal GMXS1 – the detector should trig-
ger an alarm.
Interference checks: Connect an universal measuring instrument (int. imped-
ance ≥20kΩ) to terminal 0V and signal output terminal 9 for integrator signal:
– quiescent level
– integration start
– max. interference level
– alarm threshold (without load)
Normal interference must not exceed the interference threshold of 3.4V. If this val-
ue is repeatedly exceeded, localize the source of the interference and eliminate it;
reduce the sensitivity only in exceptional cases. (cf. "Additional sensitivity reduc-
tion")
Attention: Switch off the LED after checking interference influences (SW6 = OFF).
Subsequently, close the detector.
Maintenance
Test detectors regularly (at least once a year) for operation and firm mounting.
