gases. Filters designed for capturing gases do not protect the user against any particles. In the workplace
contaminated with both types of pollution, combined filters must be used.

3. Control and maintenance

Evermatic Evolve is a complete welding hood consisting of the grinding and welding shield and headband.
Version CA-29 Evolve has additional air distribution. Lifetime of the hood and visors is influenced by many
factors such as: cold, heat, chemicals, sunlight or incorrect use. The hood should be checked on a daily
basis of possible damage of its inside or outside structure.
Careful use and correct maintenance of welding hood enhances operating life and improves your safety!
Checking before use:
Inspect that the protection plates are undamaged, clean and installed correctly. Replace lens
immediately, if it is damaged, or if spatter or scratches reduce vision.
Inspect that the welding filter lens is undamaged and clean. The damaged welding filter lens impairs
protection and visibility and must be replaced immediately.
Make sure that the shade number of welding filter lens is appropriate for your work (according to
6. Filter shade number selection").
Inspect that the welding hood and headgear are undamaged.
Inspect that welding shield is completely closed when lowered.
Cleaning:
After each work shift, clean the head section, check individual parts, and replace damaged parts.
Cleaning must be performed in a room with sufficient ventilation. Avoid inhalation of harmful dust
settled on individual parts!
For cleaning, use lukewarm water (up to +40 °C) with soap or other non-abrasive detergent, and a soft
brush.
It is prohibited to use cleaning agents with solvents.
After cleaning individual parts with a damp cloth, it is necessary to rub them dry, or let them dry at
room temperature.
It is recommended to use CleanAIR® ®klar-pilot Fluids for caring of the visors and plastic parts.
Do not use dishwasher or dryer!
Do not use acetone or other cleaning solvents!
Grinding visor change
(see Figures Annex on the cover)
The change of the grinding visor:

2. Push the grinding visor off from inside the welding hood.
3. Place the new visor on its place by fixing clips on one side and then place clips on the other side by.
Make sure that all four clips are in place!

Welding filter change
(see Figures Annex on the cover)
Change of the welding filter or protective foils:
1. Lift up the welding shield.
2. Release glass-retaining spring by bending it with fingers off from the plastic clip.
3. Remove old welding filter or protective foils.
4. Mount new welding filter or protective foils.
5. Press glass-retaining spring underneath the plastic pin.
6. Check, whether auto-darkening filter or protective foils are firmly in place!
4. Headband adjustments
(see Figures Annex on the cover)
1. Height adjustment for headband: Adjust the headband height so, that the band part circulating the
head is positioned relatively low. This way welding hood stays well on the head. The padding should
be a little above the eyebrows. Height can be adjusted from the top of the head gear.
2. Adjustment of welding hood angle: Adjust the welding hood angle in regard to your face so that the
lower edge of welding hood is positioned near your chest in the welding position. This way the welding
hood provides the best protection.
3. Tension adjustment of head harness: Adjust the band tightness by rotating the adjusting wheel po-
sitioned in the back of the band.
4. Tension adjustment of welding hood: Adjust the tightness of welding hood in regard to head harness
by rotating the two thumb screws on the sides. Adjust the tightness of hood so, that the high raised
hood stays up, but goes down when you nod your head. If the hood strikes against your chest when
falling, the adjustment is too loose or the hood angle has been adjusted too near your chest from the
limiter.
5. Storage and shelf life
Store the welding hood in a dry and clean place at room temperature, avoid direct sunlight (temperature
range from -10 °C to +50 °C).
6. Filter shade number selection
