Safety instructions
The operations must be carried
out by electrical suitably trained
in hazardous area with
knowledge of increased safty
explosion protection IEC 60079-14.
The transformer is not suitable for Zone 0
and 20 hazardous areas
The electrical connection of the device
may only be carried out by trained electric
staff.
When connecting the minimum wire cross
section shall be in acc. with EN 60 204-
1:1998
The temperature class and explosion
group marked on the apparatus shall be
observed.
The permissible ambient temperature, the
terminal cross section and the selt-
heating of the apparatus, that is mainly
caused by the power dissipation are to be
observed to ensure that the temperture
classstated on the type label of the
appafatus is maintained. (Test criterion for
the selfheating is an overload of 10%).
The temperature class of the complete
installation or distribution is determined
by the power dissipation of all built-in
modules and componenr.
The national safety rules and regulations
for the provention of accidents, as well as
the safety instruction included in these
operating instructions, that , like this text,
are set in italics, shall be observed.

intended for use in potentially explosive
atmopspheres
The transformer have been designed,
manufactured and tested according to the
state of the art and to DIN EN ISO 9001
4
Field of application
The transformator may be built into
enclosures in the type of protection
"increased safety". When built into these
Ex e enclosures, the modules are suited
for use in both Zone 1 and Zone 2
hazardous areas in accordance with IEC
60079-10 / EN 50 014.
The enclosures must have minimum type of
protection IP 54.
A practical corrosion protection must be
guaranteed by the used housing
5
Application / Properties
The Ex-e transformer is used to adapt the
supply voltage for electrical control pannel an
circuits.
The data according to sections 3 and 4
shall be taken into account during use.
During operation the instructions stated
in section 7 of the operating instructions
shall be observed.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of these
modules lies with the operator.
