OPERATION CONT'D...
Time restrictions
Shredders may not be used on Sundays and Bank holidays. Further more, regional restrictions may be
applicable (e.g. to safeguard midday rests). Information can be obtained from the pertinent authorities. We
recommend wearing safety gloves, protective goggles and ear muffs for personal safety when working with
the chopper.
Tips for cutting
This shredder is fitted with a special 6-blade cutting system. Because of the high, large-sized hopper
long branches do not have to be shortened or prepared. These are drawn in by the shredders
themselves and chopped up. Thick branches can best be chopped up when still freshly cut.
In the case of branches with many arms and twigs (e.g. from apple trees, hawthorn etc.) only those lateral
branches need be removed so as to ensure that they do not jam in the filling hopper. An optimum particle
size for composting is achieved after only one shredding process.
After the motor has been started, feed the material to be chopped into the filling hopper whilst standing behind
the machine. Branches should be fed in thick-end first.
You can change the chip size by adjusting a active door up or down on the feed intake tube. Loosen the
knob "breakdown parts number 1" and move the active door "breakdown parts number 2" to position you
desired, and then re-tighten the knob again.
Pay attention to the following when chipping:
Thin twigs and branches can be inserted immediately without preparation.
Do not overfill the shredder-only feed in as much material as can be chipped by the shredder. Otherwise
the material can become wound around the blades.
This is particularly true of pliable and stringy material (birch, willow etc.).
Freshly cut wood up to 38 mm should be guided to the shredder blade.
Feed in cutting wood by hand and chop.
The material to be chopped is taken in and automatically processed.
Branch thickness 0-38 mm only applies for freshly cut wood!
Roots and bushes are to be cleaned of any earth since soil and stones can quickly wear out the shredder
blades. That is why "clean"material should be processed first and only then can the waste which is still slightly
dirty despite knocking and shaking be chopped up .Old plants and garden waste often contain a lot of moisture
and can thus lead the cutting works clogging up. We recommend that this type of material is left for a few
days to dry before processing.
By doing this the inside of the housing automatically cleans itself. Coarsely chopped material can be
reprocessed. Non-organic or hard materials such as stones, glass, plastics, metal parts and textiles should
not be fed into the shredder.
Switch off the motor
Open the yellow cover and press the red button marked"O"or press red mushroom button directly in an emergency:
Push the red mushroom button (Emergency Stop); e.g. if the shredder disc is blocked!
Care of the shredder
Remember: Switch the motor off and disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any work on the shredder.
Transporting the shredder,
Leaving it unattended,
Cleaning or maintenance work,
Removing the protective devices
Cleaning
Remove residues from the machine immediately after shredding.
Do not spray with water to clean the device: the electrical fittings and motor could be damaged by this.
Storage
The shredder should always be packed away clean in a closed, dry room.
Transportation of the shredder
Tilt the filling hopper backwards whist standing behind the machine with one foot on the axle. The shredder
can be rolled on its wheels in this position.
NOTE:Soft material calls for sharp blades since otherwise it can become
wound around the shredder disc.It is better to process wet and dry waste
alternatively.
