thermostat controls the temperature. The thermostat must be set to maximum for the classic meat fondue.
For a cheese, bouillon or chocolate fondue it is better to set the thermostat a little lower, on medium. Set
the temperature so that the mixture will not boil. Cheese and chocolate particularly must be heated up
slowly, otherwise they will boil over. Stir once in a while to obtain a smooth texture. Use the forks to
prick the ingredients only, avoiding the pan itself,
The following oils are suitable for use with a fondue: corn seed oil, groundnut oil, sunflower oil and
frying oil. Check the pack to see whether the oil is suitable for use with a fondue. Check this carefully
since some oils are not suitable and will spit in a fondue.
CLEANING
FIRST UNPLUG THE CORD FROM THE SOCKET
The fondue pan can be washed in soapy water or in the dishwasher. Do not use any abrasive cleaning
products or scourers. Cleaning tip: Pour a cup of water and a drop of washing-up liquid in the pan. Set
the temperature at the lowest setting and leave it for about ten minutes. Then switch it off and rinse well.
The heating element base must be kept dry. Clean it with a damp cloth, as necessary.
PRINCESS TIPS
- Never immerse the base in water or any other liquid.
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning or if any fault develops. Always unplug the appliance
also when it is not in use.
- The heating base and the various parts become very hot: make sure that the appliance is out of the
reach of children and be careful with it yourself. Only pick up the parts using the handle.
- Do not place the appliance too close to the edge of the table, or work surface as people may knock it
off; do not leave the cord dangling in case people or objects become entangled in it.
- Do not use the equipment if it is damaged, or if the lead is damaged. Send it to our Service Department.
- Do not place the appliance on or directly adjacent to a warm hotplate or other source of heat.
- This appliance is intended for normal household use only.
- Check regularly to ensure that the handles are still properly attached to the pan.
- Do not move the set until the contents and base have cooled down.
- Always place the pan on a stable and flat surface.
- Do not use this set outdoors.
- The parts of this set have a non-stick coating based on PTFE. When this is heated up minute amounts
of gas can be released which are completely harmless to humans. It appears however that the nervous
system of birds is extremely sensitive to this gas. Therefore never use the set near birds, such a budgerigars
and parrots.
