5 STARTING / STOPPING

5.1 GENERAL PROVISIONS

- Check there is oil in the pump, by looking at the oil indicator on the
rear cover;
- Make sure the pipes are not clogged and are free from waste;
- Make sure that the intake line is connected and the pump primed. For
no reason whatsoever must the pump work dry – this is to avoid
burning the pressure seals;
- Check alignment and tightness of the motion transmission elements;
- Make sure that all moving part protections are in place and fixed
correctly: joint covers, mechanical seal protections, electric motor fan
cover, etc.;
- Do not start the pump before having connected the intake and delivery
pipes which must be watertight, and open the circuit feed gate valve if
installed.

5.2 STARTING THE PUMP

- Start the 1-6 bar centrifugal pump, under no circumstances start the
piston pump before the centrifugal pump.

- Let the pump work for a certain length of time, until the oil flows
sufficiently.
- Increase pressure gradually with the control valve. The pressure reached
must be less than the safety valve's calibration pressure.
If the safety valve is not installed,
to the pump.

5.3 STOPPING THE PUMP

Each time, before stopping the pump, reset pressure by way of the control
valve or with a discharge device if installed.

5.4 LEAKAGE

No water leaks from the pressure seals during operation. If the seals are
worn however water will leak through the supports.
A groove under the pump body eliminates the water that has leaked.
Replace the pressure seals as soon as possible.

6 USE

6.1 PERMITTED FLUIDS

The RLR series pump has been designed to pump clean water at ambient
temperature. Other liquids of the same viscosity must be approved by our
Technical Office.
The pump must always work under the hydrostatic head (Min. 1 /
Max 3 bar).

6.2 TEMPERATURE

Permitted water temperature is 60° C.
Attention: supply water temperature is a vitally important factor for pump
life and performance.
