NOTE: Do not cut diagonally as this causes irregular
wear and irreparable damage to the bar.
Normal Maintenance
Operations that are easily performed by the user and are
required to keep the chain saw efficient for regular use
are described below.
Air filter (fig. 13)
Through use, sawdust clogs the intake filter. To guarantee
engine performance this must be cleaned frequently with
a brush and petrol. Take care not to damage the filter.
IN THE EVENT OF DAMAGE, REPLACE THE FILTER.
DO NOT WORK WITHOUT A FILTER OR WITH A TORN
FILTER. THIS ALLOWS IMPURITIES TO PENETRATE
AND DAMAGE MECHANICAL PARTS AND THE
CARBURETTOR.
On these models (see fig.13) the filter unit is formed
by a lid (A) and a filter (B). When opening the unit, it is
possible to separate lid A from filter B and filter B remains
in its place on the chainsaw.
• Remove filter B and clean it with a brush.
• Couple filter B and lid A through the existing hooks.
• Reposition the filter unit into its seat and check that
they are properly fastened.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT insert filter (B) and lid (A)
separately. This operation DOES NOT allow the
proper coupling of the two elements.
Starting unit
Keep the air intake grills required to cool the engine clean.
Sawdust reduces the cooling capacity of the engine and
causes damage to the engine and other parts through
overheating. Also check that the starter cord is intact.
Replace at the first signs of wear.
Cylinder
Keep the fins clean to keep the cooling system efficient.
When the engine is cold remove any residue of sawdust
or other material.
Clutch Housing
Keep the clutch housing free of sawdust and any foreign
bodies. Do not use oil on these parts. Every 30 hours ask
your local dealer to grease the roller bearing positioned
between the clutch housing and the crankshaft.
Engine sprocket (fig. 14)
With use the chain sprocket (connected to the clutch
housing) becomes scored by the driving links of the
chain. This causes gradual variation in the resting point
of the chain. Check that wear does not exceed 0.5 mm.
DO NOT OPERATE WITH WORN SPROCKETS!!
Chain brake
Frequently check the efficiency of the brake and
thickness of the brake band (located inside the chain /
clutch casing) in the points where it rubs most. Replace if
the thickness in these points is less than half the original
thickness.
Always work in safety. Do not tamper with the saw,
do not perform any operations you are unsure of.

Chain stop
This is located on the lower front part of the engine
casing (see paragraph with description of main parts, ref.
R). Check the state of the chain stop at regular intervals.
Replace if damaged. This component is essential for your
safety.
Spark plug
At regular intervals check the state of the spark plug.
Clean the electrodes and check the distance (set to
0.5 mm). Replace the electrodes when worn. Use a
spark plug with a rating among those indicated by the
manufacturer. Do not use different ratings, as these could
cause serious damage to mechanical parts or failure to
obtain the estimated performances.
Screws and nuts
At regular intervals check that screws and nuts are
clamped. Do not exceed the torque used for clamping. If
necessary contact your regular assistance service.
WARNING Never work with loose parts.
ALWAYS WORK IN SAFETY !!!
Special Maintenance
All operations not considered as normal maintenance
should be performed by an authorized service
centre.
Have your chain saw checked at regular intervals by
your service engineer.
Use and request only original spare parts.
Storage
Never put the chain saw away without having cleaned
it. Store it so that it is ready to be used efficiently
each time it is required.
Clean the air filter
Clean the entire saw with petrol and dry it. Oil it with
a cloth soaked in oil (without exaggerating).
Place the saw in its original packaging and store it in
a suitable place out of children's reach.
Avoid places that are either damp or excessively dry
and hot.
Cutting techniques
a) Cutting into sections (fig. 15)
Drive the front pawl into the trunk at point A.
Levering on the pawl at point A, pull the chain saw up
with the right hand, so that the chain penetrates the
wood.
Then position the pawl lower down (point B) and
repeat the operation until the trunk has been cut
through.
Take care not to come into contact with branches
or other obstacles with the tip of the bar to prevent
kickback of the blade.
Never cut by penetrating with the tip of the bar as this
could cause kickback. Always work in safety!!
Always use the central part of the bar to prevent
kickback!
