Steps for mounting the modules
The MSI 400 system is only suitable for
mounting in the switch cabinet with a minimum
protection class of IP 54.
WARNING
In an MSI 400 system, the MSI 4xx base module is on the
far left, immediately followed by both optional gateways on
the right. Then followed by the extension modules.
Make sure appropriate ESD protective measures are main-
tained when mounting. Otherwise, the internal safety bus
may be damaged.
The connection between the modules is done via the
integrated connector in the housing.
Please note, when replacing a module, the MSI 400 mod-
ules are pushed apart approx. 10 mm before the corre-
sponding module can be removed from the standard rail.
Take the appropriate measures to prevent foreign objects
from obstructing the connector openings.
Mount acc. to EN 50274.
The modules are contained in a 45 mm or 22.5 mm wide
installation housing for 35 mm standard rails in accordance
with EN 60715.

4.1.1 Steps for mounting the MSI 4xx base module
 Pull the latching foot outwards with a screwdriver.
 Hook the module onto the standard rail.
Important! Make sure the shield spring is seated correctly.
The module's shield springs must be securely attached to
the standard rail and have a good electrical contact.
 Swivel the module onto the standard rail.
 Slide the latching foot against the standard rail with a
screwdriver until the latching foot snaps into place with an
audible CLICK.
 Make sure that the module is firmly mounted onto the
standard rail. Try to remove the module from the standard
