3. Safety
3.10 Training / instruction
As owner, you are obliged to inform and instruct the operating
personnel in respect of applicable legal and accident prevention
regulations as well as the safety devices fitted. In this context,
bear in mind the varying specialised qualifications of your staff.
The operating personnel must have understood the instruction
they are given, heed it and have documented such by giving their
signature.
This is the only way you can be sure that operating personnel
work in awareness of safety and of the hazards that are involved.
As owner, you should therefore obtain written confirmation from
all members of staff that they have received training/instruction.
All electrical components are configured and wired in such a way
that even if a fault should occur in the safety chains, protection
is effective or will be detected and the machine will be shut
down.
Applying these safety measure will minimise potential hazards to
such an extent that the machine can be operated safely.
Note
i
All of the safety guards in place must be che-
cked at least once before the start of each
shift to make sure that they are fitted and
undamaged (visual inspection).
3.11 Personal protective equipment
The owner must provide the following personal protective equip-
ment:
•
Safety shoes
•
Safety goggles (as necessary)
•
Safety gloves (as necessary)
Caution
Risk of injury!
Make sure that personnel do not wear loose, long
hair, loose clothing or jewellery, including rings;
there is a risk of injury from being pulled in or
getting caught.
