7.2 ANTENNA
This option of the R2 Finder menu lets you select the type of antenna that will be in operation
during the search.
The R2 Finder has an antenna that is selected by default as an internal antenna. The search
screen will not display any indication when the R2 is operating with this antenna. The R2 Finder
also offers the possibility of adding external antennas for added search convenience.
NOTE: By default the selected option will always be "INTERNAL ANTENNA". If the selected antenna is
the "EXTERNAL ANTENNA" but it is not attached to the R2 Finder, the range for searches will be re-
duced by 90%. Do not forget to switch to "INTERNAL ANTENNA" when performing searches without
using the auxiliary antenna.
TYPES OF EXTERNAL ANTENNA FOR THE R2 FINDER::
- CAR KIT: Designed to be used in searches from a car. Its operation is based on a reduced
range in order to favor reception of the signal from all directions (omnidirectional antenna).
This allows you to cover a vast area in very short time when using a vehicle.
- DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA: It significantly increases the range of the internal antenna in the
R2 Finder itself.
CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL ANTENNA TO THE R2 FINDER WHEN IT IS GOING TO BE USED:
1- Screw the connector in the cable of the antenna to
the R2 Finder jack.
2- Follow this path in the R2 Finder menu:
MENU>ANTENNA> > INTERNAL SELECTED,
SWITCH TO EXTERNAL?>YES
and press the "OK" key
When you finish using the external antenna, remember
to set your R2 Finder back to "INTERNAL ANTENNA".
Steps:
1- Unscrew the connector in the cable of the antenna
from the R2 Finder jack.
2- Follow this path in the R2 Finder menu:
MENU>ANTENNA> > EXTERNAL SELECTED,
SWITCH TO INTERNAL?>YES
and press the "OK" key
