Adjusting the Belt Position
(see figure
)
C
So that the sanding belt always runs centrally on
the backing surfaces and does not "run off" to the
side, the running position must be adjusted for
each change of the sanding belt.
For the adjustment of the belt running position,
select a low belt speed (PVS 300 AE). Adjust the
belt running position with the knob 6:
Turn the knob in the clockwise direction ( ):
The sanding belt moves in the direction
Turn the knob in the anti-clockwise direction ( ):
The sanding belt moves in the direction
(Also see arrow imprints on the knob 6).
The belt running position is correctly adjusted
when the sanding belt runs flush with the backing
surface edges.
Note:
For the adjustment of the belt position, turn the
knob 6 slowly and wait for the reaction of the
sanding belt before continuing to adjust.
Turn the knob 6 only with the machine
switched on.
Operating Instructions
(see figure
B
For different materials to be worked, various
sanding belt grains are available.
The removal rate and the quality of the surface
are determined by the selection of the sanding
belt (grit) as well as the belt speed setting (see
Settings Table).
Place the complete sanding surface of the
switched-on machine on the piece to be worked
to achieve uniform material removal. Work with
moderate forward motion. Perform the sanding
movements with parallel and overlapping passes.
Sand in the direction of the grain; crossways
sanding can result in uneven sanding.
As a result of the high removal rate, only light
application pressure should be used while
working to prevent damage or sanding through
of the material undercoating.
When sanding corner frames (e. g., interior
corners), always move forward only so far
that the sanding belt does not come in con-
tact with the side that is vertical to the work-
piece.

Only flawless sanding belts produce good sand-
ing results and protect the machine. Do not con-
tinue to use worn out, torn or heavily clogged
sanding belts.
Take care to apply uniform pressure; the working
life of the sanding belt is increased in this man-
ner.
An increase in the pressure does not lead to
higher sanding performance but rather to in-
creased wear to the machine and the sanding
belt.
.
Do not sand wood and metal with the same sand-
ing belt.
Use only original Bosch sanding belts and ac-
cessories.
Base Unit (Accessory)
The use of the base unit 18 makes possible the
stationary application of the machine.
Small workpieces such as strips and profiles can
be easily worked in this manner. The minimum
thickness should not be less that 5 mm, however.
Mounting the Base Unit and the
Machine
Place the machine according to the illustration on
the base unit 18 and screw tight with the winged
screw 19. Take care that the cut-outs on the ma-
chine engage the guide pins 17.
Depending on the application, the lengthways /
angle guide 15 can be mounted in the positions I
or II provided on the base unit.
Attach the lengthways/angle guide 15 with the
screws 14 on the base unit. When installing the
lengthways/angle guide, take care that the plas-
tic guide 16 engages in the cut-out and the
screw 14 in the threads provided on the base
unit.
For secure working, the base unit must be at-
tached to an adequately stable support (e. g.,
workbench) by means of the screw clamp 20. At-
tention should be given to the fact that the edge
guide 21 must always be flush with the edge of
the support.
