Safety instructions

The operations must be carried
a
out by electrical suitably trained in
hazardous area with knowledge of
increased safty explosion protection
IEC/EN 60079-14.
Don´t use the explosion-protected enclo-
sures without an complete Ex certification.
The explosion-protected enclosures and
distributions are not suited for use in Zone 0
and Zone 20 .
When the flameproof enclosures and
distributions are used in zone 21/22, an
additional seal have to use between
enclosure and cover.
The requirements of the IEC/EN 60079-31
regarding excessive dust deposits and
temperature to be considered from the user.
Also in combination with flanged on
connection- and bus bar-boxes as well as
completely Ex certified housing with
pressure resistant cable entries (Ex d) the
employment of the housing may not take
place in zone 0.
Explosion-protected empty housings must
be certified after assembly by an inspection
station or for the examination of entitled
persons.
The permissible ambient temperature, the
terminal cross section and the self-heating
of the apparatus, that is mainly caused by
the power dissipation are to be observed to
ensure that the temperature class stated on
the type label of the apparatus is main-
tained.
Flameproof enclosures,
Series: GHG 6..
Prior to being put into operation, the boxes
shall be checked in accordance with the
1
instructions as per section 6.
2
Before initial operation, any foreign matter
3
shall be removed from the apparatus.
3

Conformity with standards

The apparatus is conform to the standards
specified in the EU-Declaration of conformity,
enclosed separately.
References to standards and directives in these
operating instructions always relate to the latest
version. Other additions (e.g. details relating to
the year) shall be observed.

Field of application

The flameproof enclosures and distributions are
intended for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres in zones 1,2 and Zone 21, 22
accordance with EN/IEC 60079-10-1 and
EN/IEC 60079-10-2!
The enclosure materials used, including any
external metal parts, are high quality materials
that ensure a corrosion resistance and
resistance to chemical substances according to
the requirements for use in a "normal industrial
atmosphere":
– sheet steel and plastic powder
coating
– stainless steel AISI 316 L
– aluminium alloy pressure casting
– galvanized steel.
Optionally, a surface protection for tropical and
sea climates, etc. is also available for use in
extremely aggressive atmospheres.
5
Use / Properties
Within the scope of the approvals, these
flameproof enclosures may be mounted
together on wall or floor frames using bus bar
boxes of the series "GHG 75. .. " to form
distributions according to the building-block
principle.
Warning: The unit assembled via the bus bar
systems shall not exceed the overall length
of 6.00 m.
If necessary, individual system units with a
maximum length of 6.00 m can be built and
joined together at given points to form a
distribution installation.
On basis of the Ex type certificate from PTB,
the explosion-protected enclosures,"convention-
al industrial switchgears" can be built into, and
can be certified afterwards by means of an
appropriate acceptance by an authorized person
or inspection station.
The minimum gap length must be observed
according to EN/CEI 60079-1.
If the viewing window (d=80mm) is used on
the enclosure lid, then make sure that it is
screwed at least 6 threads.
No modifications on the gap length or width
can be undertaken without consulting CCH.
On basis of the Ex type certificate from PTB,
the explosion-protected enclosures,"convention-
al industrial switchgears" can be built into, and
can be certified afterwards by means of an
appropriate acceptance by an authorized person
or inspection station.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of these boxes lies
with the operator.
6

Installation

Only fully certified enclosures or distribu-
tions may be installed and put into opera-
tion.
The relevant national regulations(e.g. BetriSiV,
the equipment safety law for Germany) and the
generally recognized rules of engineering apply
for the installation and operation.
6.1

Mounting

When the flameproof enclosures and
distributions are mounted directly onto the
wall or floor frames, they shall rest evenly
only on the fastening points provided for
this purpose.
Fixing dimensions are shown in the dimension
drawings on pages 7 and 8.
In order to be able to open the covers of
flameproof enclosures faultlessly, it is
absolutely essential to ensure that the
flameproof enclosures are assembled without
twisting (see technical data for test torques).
The screw chosen shall fit the fixing hole
M12 for sizes 1,2,4,5 and 7
M20 for enclosures size 6
and shall not damage the hole (e.g. use of a
washer).
The number of screws used for fixing the
apparatus shall correspond to the number of
fixing holes in the enclosures.
Overtightening can damage the
Ex-d protective enclosure or busbar/
connection box. Observe the torque
specified in the technical data.
The sole responsibility with respect to the
suitability and proper use of these boxes lies
with the operator.
Which flameproof enclosure cover belongs to
which enclosure base can be determined by
identical production numbers on the inside of
the enclosure cover and the front of the
enclosure base.
