Remedy of malfunctions
Malfunctions become apparent in operation of the
hydraulic pump. Once the malfunction has been
rectified, the hydraulic pump is normally ready for
use again.
WARNING
If unsuitable replacement parts are used or the
parts are incorrectly mounted, hydraulic oil can es-
cape under high pressure. Hydraulic oil escaping
Malfunction
Possible cause
Piston does not
Escape valve not closed completely
move out
The hand pump was positioned with
the head facing up
Leak in the oil circuit
The system is overloaded (the pressure
control valve in the pump is activated
in order to prevent overload of the
system)
Worn or damaged pump
Oil tank is overfilled
Cylinder moves
Air in the oil circuit
out in a jolting
motion or not
The cylinder piston is bent or damaged
completely
and is therefore being subjected to fric-
tion forces
Too little oil in the tank
The oil requirement of the cylinder is
greater than the usable volume of the
tank
The piston sinks
Escape valve leaking
back under load
Leak in the oil circuit
Leakage at cylinder seals
Leakage at couplings or hose fittings
Worn seals
Contamination in the oil circuit
Cylinder does not
Oil does not flow freely back into the oil
move out comple-
container
tely or only very
slowly
Escape valve is not opened sufficiently
Contamination in the oil circuit
Lines blocked

under high pressure can easily cut through cloth-
ing, skin, muscle and other tissue. This can cause
serious injuries.
Troubleshooting and rectification may only be car-
ried out by qualified professionals and in compli-
ance with accident prevention regulations.
Schaeffler strongly advises that only original re-
placement parts and accessories authorised by
Schaeffler should be used.
Possible malfunctions of hand pumps
Remedy
Close escape valve u58
Position the hand pump horizontally with the feet down-
wards u52
Check the connections.
Replace leaking parts as necessary or send the hydraulic
pump to Schaeffler for repair.
Avoid overload. Use a pump of sufficient power
Send the hydraulic pump to Schaeffler for repair
Stop operation: completely release the pressure, separate
the pump. Then drain the oil down to the maximum fill level
V
max
Completely release the pressure, check the connections,
bleed the oil circuit u58
Send the hydraulic pump to Schaeffler for repair
Refill with oil u54
Use a pump with a larger oil tank
Send the hydraulic pump to Schaeffler for repair
Completely release the pressure, check the connections
Replace the seals; see the user manual for the consumer
device
Check whether this is due to contamination. Clean parts.
Replace any worn parts using original replacement parts
Replacement of seals by qualified professional or Service at
Schaeffler
Change the oil
Check whether the escape valve is completely open and
the nipples and sleeves are correctly coupled
Check whether there is too much oil in the tank. Attention,
possible rupture risk of tank. Close escape valve, slowly
open bleed screw/cap, then turn completely and drain oil
into extra collection container
Open the escape valve completely
Change the oil
Send the hydraulic pump to Schaeffler for repair
