Spark plug maintenance should be conducted as per the instructions in the Tables of Scheduled Maintenance
and Checks. Once the spark plug is removed (as instructed below), check for any carbon or oil residue. Use a
small wire brush with kerosene to scrub the fins and surrounding area (except the electrodes) down
thoroughly. Should the visual inspection reveal any corroded electrodes or cracking, replace the spark plug
immediately.

General Maintenance
1.
Remove the spark plug cap (A).
2.
Place the wrench over the spark plug (B).
3.
Turn it in carefully then remove the wrench once the spark
plug has been loosened.
4.
Inspect the spark plug electrode (D) for any signs of chips,
cracks or abnormal wear.
5.
Further, check the spark plug gap (C) and find the correct slot
using a spark plug gapping tool. The correct spark plug gap
should read: 0.60 – 0.80mm (0.023 – 0.031 in)
6.
Thread the spark plug into the hole in the cylinder and tighten
to specifications.
7.
Put the spark plug cap back on the wire.
Warning
Do not attempt to handle or touch the spark plug while the engine is running. Allow the engine to cool
down completely before removing the spark plug to avoid serious or burn injury.
